To be fair, all this whingeing about time wasting is just you lot deflecting from the fact you were almost beat, and probably should have been. If last night is a reflection of your season, then I feel for you, because you aren’t going to be challenging the top teams anymore. Nothing to see here though, it’s just Liverpool doing what they always do, hating every team that dare give them a contest.
Blimey, the delusion is strong in this thread.
I'd learn to walk before you try and run, set your sights on a top half finish and possibility of 2nd tier European football maybe? From what I saw last night that would be an achievement, although that new lad up front does look a player (assuming you can keep him if he does have a good season).
The step up to title challenger and CL football is a significant one, and would need a change of manager and 90% of your current squad I'd suggest. You aren't going to get there time wasting, feigning injuries and kicking lumps out of the opposition like AM do in Spain, there's far more competition in the Prem for a top 6 place.
As MU are proving, even with all the money in the world and and significant history on the European stage it's hard work attracting the best talent in their prime to a club without CL football.
Be interesting to pop back into this thread when the PL shuts down for the World Cup in late November and see how it's going.

No delusion at all. We all know that the project is going to take serious time, but as has been evidenced recently, the passion is there and the money is there. Last night we played without four of our best players, with a team that still lacks any sort of depth of quality and strength, but for most of the match were equal to, if not better than Liverpool. You may have saw our draw against the Champions a few weeks ago? I predicted we'll finish 8th this season, and I still think I'd be happy to achieve that.I'd learn to walk before you try and run, set your sights on a top half finish and possibility of 2nd tier European football maybe? I do get the frustration though, seems Liverpool are stagnant at the moment. It's been glossed over by the Bournemouth win, but it feels like you're worried that games like last night are the true reflection of how your season will pan out...

I guess we'll see how things pan out for Liverpool once Nunez, Matip, Thiago, and Jota are back? Still a few hours left in the transfer window to bolster the midfeld also.
TBH as long as we keep qualifying for CL football every season then I'm a happy fan. It's those big midweek European nights during the latter stages that I look forward to these days, the PL is just a very drawn out qualifying round.
A classy display by Liverpool last night all round though. Klopp baring his teeth all the way through before giving the smug grin whilst his bench stuck the Vs up at our bench, players celebrating the win as if they'd won the Champions League, Carvalho and Elliot using a gun celebration after Liverpool has been in the headlines for the death of a 9yr old, and the fans booing our players off at the final whistle.
Lovely stuff.

And they wonder why everyone can't stand them... Lovely stuff.

Exciting match, enjoyed it (except the last minute).. A draw would have been a fair result, although 'pool did put heavy pressure on in the last 15 mins.
Impressed by Newcastle, the whole team played their socks off.

Newcastle deserved to get a draw with Man City a couple of weeks ago and - IMO - deserved something from the game at Liverpool last night. By common consent those are the best two teams in the Premier League so to be competitive with them bodes well for Newcastle, especially as they were missing several first choice players last night. I'm not sure I see them finishing in a European place but I'll be surprised if they're not firmly in the top half this season (and that's quite a turn-around from where they were 12 months ago!).

When you look at who was missing last night, can you imagine ASM & Isak up front with Calum Wilson there too? In defence we maybe lack something but with Dan Burn playing his heart out and Kieran Trippier mustering the troops .....Bruno G, Almiron and Joelinton (didn't think I'd be mentioning him a season ago) in midfield we've got a team that wants to play and wants to impress. And I've missed out the likes of Fraser who is fast and usually accurate with a long pass or cross....

Looks like business is done. Was hoping the Tielemans rumour had some legs as he is a quality proven PL midfielder and also thought Lucas Moura on loan would be a good option as he's pretty versatile. I know we were still on about Ashby from West Ham but not sure if any of that will happen.

Ashby sounds like a no-go. Feels like it’s been tough getting business done this window. Funny how last nights offside replay was shown from such a distance and from such an angle that one comes to the conclusion that it was offside, I have seen this still and it is clear the both players feet are in same position. Good old VAR at it again.
