It's annoying when infidels on this thread cause mayhem then moan about it, ironic as half the time the arguments are caused by them which they then use class this as the thread of shame

You talk about infidels, but from where I am sitting, it seems you guys are more than happy to dish it out on other threads, but anyone comes in here and either takes the piss, or says something vaguely criticizing, the toys are flung, and the Cold war begins. Get over it and grow the f

Carry on.
Jesus, I was actually joking! Did someone else really think it could happen?
I can't see Rafa being a director of football. How long would it take before he was on the training ground telling the little piss-ant Bert look-a-like to 'take 5 minutos' whilst he coaches the team properly.

The last time a lower league team manager who had done well came to us it was an epic fail. However, as said on numerous occasions that was mainly due to his negative football and crap attitude towards the fans/players.
Martinez is known to like to play attractive positive football which is a plus. He knows the premier league and can speak English which is a plus (aimed at the jokers who believe cabbage man capello could do a good job). Knowing the prem league means he has a good understanding of the opposition clubs and their strengths/weaknesses - a foreign manager would have to learn all this. I've always seen him conduct himself professionally which is a plus. He is young and ambitious which makes him a good long term option.
So it kind of looks sensible. The trouble is he has no experience of the pressures a big club will bring, he has never had to fight for a major trophy or compete in multiple competitions and I believe he will have the same objective as Kenny which is to get us top 4. So the expectations are really high and he's a bit of a risk.
That said, even though he hasn't proven himself at a big club, that's not to say he's not upto the job. Everyone has to make the step up sometime.

I keep thinking Martinez is a good idea, then five minutes later it seems a bad one.Martinez is known to like to play attractive positive football which is a plus. One major problem would be that all the fans wouldn't be onside, and so we could have another Roy situation in 6 months time if the team aren't performing.

I think Martinez is pretty well thought of amongst the other managers in the PL - especially after what he achieved at the end of this season. Maybe he hasn't had the pressure of manageing a top club - but he knows what pressure is about - the pressure of being threatened with relegation which could spell huge financial problems & job losses for people (and not just players) who you work with every day must be immense. Nobody ever blames the players for relegation......Martinez is known to like to play attractive positive football which is a plus. I think we should all get behind whoever they appoint. I actually think that Martinez would do well for us, he is young ambitious and able to manage, just because he has a win percentage of 27% does not make him a bad manager, for the clubs he has had with the finances available I think he has done well. He tries to get his side to keep the ball down and play it- good attractive football and no offence to wigan but that was with players like Watson et al....not exactly your Stevie G's of this world.
We are not going to tempt pep or anyone of that calibre, but where was pep before barca.....he was given a go as a young prospective manager, they have to start somewhere, I think he would do a grand job for LFC, far better than any of the WUMS or even Raja will think. So lets support whoever is brought in even if it is roberto

I have never really paid much attention to Martinez as a person.
How is he regarding interviews, man managing etc? Can he divert attention away from the players and on to him in the same style as Mourinho does?
Just curious really in how he is as we arguably have had three managers in a row who had curious interview styles! Embarrassing on the whole.
