I agree that the players did better, but I don't see any improvement in the approach. We put out an extremely defensive side and then forgot to defend. The players tried their hearts out, but the line up and the tactics were utterly incoherent. Spurs took their chances and United didn’t .
Until the bigger issues are addressed it really won’t matter who the manager is .

This single post sums up why fans from most other clubs have no time for the vast majority of man utd 'fans'But I’m not watching Utd again until he is gone. It’s a waste of my time.
To be an ABU or have no time for United fans as you put it, just because someone has ORD’s attitude, is just as pathetic as his statement.
Woodward has a lot to answer for with this too. Clearly there is an issue between him and Jose which is having a bad effect on the rest of the club. The camera was on Woodward a fair bit last night to see him shaking his head and looking a bit sheepish imo. IF we were in for Aldereireld then last night was proof he's a class act and we should have gone all out for him. Our defence is s
te and only Luke Shaw showed any skill and desire to play out of all of them.

Absolutely. Spurs took their chances, we didn’t. And we didn’t defend well. We had more shots in that game than I can remember for a while now. Spurs took their chances and United didn’t .
One of the loudest cheers of the night was one of our early presses, where Spurs were forced into an error. We didn’t do enough of that, and have rarely done it under Maureen. That’s what’s needed in the modern game, and the fans are telling Maureen loud and clear. The problem is that he will now equate playing in an “attacking” way, with a heavy defeat, which will probably have him reverting to type.

He knew the issue ,unfortunately his buys to correct it have been poor.

Close the door behind you on the way out. But I’m not watching Utd again until he is gone. It’s a waste of my time.
I went last night, usual seats in the family stand, Stretford End, took my 9 year old boy who's celebrating his 9th birthday today. The evening started well as the club displayed his name on the scoreboard in celebration of his birthday. The team started well and Jose did anything but park the bus against a very good opponent. It's been said that the performance in the first half was much improved from Brighton and the crowd were right to be optimistic at half time, but we hadn't taken what I thought was a well deserved lead.
Please tell me why Lucas Moura wasn't sent off for kicking Jones in the face?
Then Kane happened and it all went awry. When the 3rd went in my son immediately turned to me and asked to leave, saying everything that I read on here, see elsewhere online and hear on Talks
![](/inc/images/censored.gif)
I said "We're staying to the end...".
"Why, we're rubbish!"
"Because the players have tried their hearts out and they didn't deserve this, they deserve to be clapped off as does Jose for being brave enough to try something different ...". I could sense a split in the crowd, some visibly angry, others like me.
"harrumph..."
So we stay to the end, clap the players off, they clap us back as they walk dejected to the tunnel and we start singing "Jose Mourinho, Jose Mourinho..."
Jose then spends a good minute or so standing directly in front of us, applauding us and getting some well deserved love back from the crowd. Some of us haven't forgotten what he and his team have done since he arrived. I got goosebumps. My son said that was great. We both went away discussing the nights events and I told him the best thing after tonight is that there are 35 games left in the season and we have the champions league draw to look forward to on Thursday. He had a million questions as we walked back to the car and we got in to what it means to truly support United.
We'll lick our wounds and try again at the next game. Clearly we've had a poor start to the season, but I've seen all this before and will undoubtedly see it in the future. I couldn't care less about the other teams right now, how well they are doing, their wonderful style of play etc. My focus is on my team and supporting them to the best of my ability. The press are after Mourinho and it's great that he's come out fighting. If his team can show that same spirit in the last 35 games, we'll be just fine. If a managerial change happens then so be it, but Mourinho, the coaches and the players have my support until that day happens.

Not sure you know the meaning of the word fickle. I have supported Utd for 30 years and am gutted every time they lose and elated when they win big. But I don't like watching awful football played by players that don't want to be there.TEKNOPUG said:

Lots of good stuff about being a fan.
Nice post, and a more accurate reflection of the majority of fans (of all clubs, not just ours). Happy birthday to the lad & fair play for staying and showing him how it should be done.Moura on Jones was a bookable offence only apparently now, but if it had been a red then you can see how it could be argued so. Can't use it as an excuse though (I know you were not) - we just made too many mistakes on the night.

I also agree with most of that. I have never left a game early in my life. When you are there, you can (and should) cheer the side on to the end. In reality, I will watch every game I even possibly can this season, as I have every season of my adult life. I am thoroughly depressed by this Mourinho side, but it is still my club.
To be honest, I just had a tantrum at how awful a manager we have. I still love the club. I get so down when things go wrong for the side that I sometimes stay stupid s
