So I read on Twitter than the Liverpool defence is the most expensively assembled in British history ? Second in the world behind PSG. Is that right ?
Lovren £20mil
Moreno £12mil
Sakho £18mil
Johnson £17mil
Skrtel £6.5mil
Enrique £6.3mil
Coates £7mil
I must have missed that game where where we played 7 at the back (although it wouldn't be a bad shout at the moment ) Lovren £20mil
Moreno £12mil
Sakho £18mil
Johnson £17mil
Skrtel £6.5mil
Enrique £6.3mil
Coates £7mil

Saying last season was all down to Suarez just displays a huge amount of ignorance.
Highest goal scorer, assists and all round magic that won him all the awards and a transfer to one of the best teams in the world. Why is it ignorance? The only change this season is the absence of Suarez and the bringing in of 120 million pounds of new players that the manager wanted.
Do you disagree that Suarez wouldn't improve any team? I think where we finish this season will show how much last year was about Suarez and how much about our manager.

Moyes just goes to show that you can't just plonk any old idiot into a team with world class players and expect them to win matches for you.
Also saying the "only change this season is the absence of Suarez and the bringing in of 120 million pounds of new players that the manager wanted". So the "only" change is that 80% of our first team has changed? I'd say that's a pretty fking major change and one not associated with the usual use of "only"!!

But your statement is SO black and white. Last season is was ALL down to Suarez. That completely dismisses all the work put into the formations and setting up the rest of the team to play in a style that got the best out of Suarez (and Sturridge for that matter).

But BR said last year that spending £100 mil you need to be winning the league...backed up by quite a lot of you chaps on here. Funny it's different this year though. To suggest Liverpool Were a one player team last year is madness... We played very well and scored lots when Suarez was suspended... TRUE FANS can see past the first 4-5 games of a new season, when lots of new players have come in and a transition period is inevitable, Those that don't or can't show that patience can never be called TRUE FANS and they are the real embarrassment to LFC.
It was pretty obvious to anyone that losing Suarez was going to be a big transition, as is bringing in a large number of new players. We won't suddenly become a great team overnight, it will take time for the team to settle & to learn the best way to play. If it takes up to Xmas to get it right I think that's a pretty fair time period considering the changes, the foundations are there to have a very very good team again, absolutely no point in calling for the managers head in 5 games!!
The thing is, last summer there wasn't a lot of spend amongst teams. We didn't really buy anyone, neither did Chelsea or Utd. Arsenal only bought Ozil. You had the chance to leapfrog some of those teams.
This summer Chelsea, Utd and Arsenal have all spent and spent generally quite well. We've lost Suarez so we started the summer at a disadvantage. I'd say given everyone's spending this summer, £120m might just get you top four.

How many goals did we score last season in the league? How many of those goals were scored by Suarez?
How many were assists by Suarez?
Hor many were penalties as a consequence of Suarez?
And of course I have no doubt that Sturridge nor Sterling will get the room or space this season to be as effective without Suarez.
I'm not sure what a true fan is. I'm sure it isn't someone who blindly follows an average manager that has never won anything in his life. 120 million spent on players of his choosing and we get turned over with ease by Villa and West Ham.
There is no doubting we do miss Suarez however before people run off shouting of how much he is miss, consider this.
Last season:
When he was out for 9 games we won average 2.55 points a game, when he returned 2.22. We did win games without him.
Without Suarez we had a 53% accuracy in front of goal, 49% when he was back
Without him we conceded fewer goals at 0.44 per game compared to 1.42 with him in the team.
We had a win ration of 64% with him out, 50% with him in.
I do wish he were at Liverpool still but bleating on about it is a)pointless and b)not always correct.

Raja, if it's all that easy, and you have all the answers, you really ought to be making your career in the game, rather than just repeating yourself in here.
You may apparently go to games, but your contributions in here mark you out as typical knee jerk reaction, instant success demanding modern day fan that I deplore.

It's a forum. Deal with it. Just because I think a car drives like turd doesn't mean I need to go and be a car designer. You may apparently go to games, but your contributions in here mark you out as typical knee jerk reaction, instant success demanding modern day fan that I deplore.
None of this really distracts from what we need to focus on does it GG. An average manager and a club that has bought very badly in the last few windows. 120 million of random signings which result in our most effective attacker playing wing back.
As for what I apparently do, give over. Maybe it's because I've stood on the stands and seen real winning managers that I can spot a fraud when I see one.
Looking at this as an outsider it seems Liverpool 'did a spurs' in the transfer market. Got an astonishing fee for Suarez and then went on a bonkers trolley dash and bought in some very ordinary players and a nutter!
I didn't think they needed to bring in as many players as they did. But say they did need all those new faces it was always going to be a big risk trying to integrate 10 new players at once.
Crickey, we made 5 summer signings and that was a lot in my view. I think the ideal scenario would be to bring 2 or maybe 3 players each summer. Personally, I don't like the January transfer window and would rather all transfer business is done in the summer.

Suarez has gone ffs get over it.. I suppose you constantly ramble on about the 70's and 80's glory days.. Give the manager a chance, its 5 games into the season after us finishing 2nd last year and you want the manager out, Your a disgrace to the club. How many of those goals were scored by Suarez?
