I think it the travelling back that is most affected. No trains from London to Liverpool after 8pm - the organisors of the Cup Final and the train system couldn't be more inept!
To be fair to the train company/Network Rail they arranged the engineering works 18 months ago so the FA have had plenty of notice to make the Cup Final at a time which means fans can travel. Especially given that for a few weeks now it has been known that one of the finalists would be from the city of Liverpool.

Only three trains from Liverpool to London on the day, they'd better be long ones.

Can't you just be happy for us for reaching another cup final?

The fa have cocked up. The game is at the time due to other games being live on tv on the same day (cup final day) The chavs snubbed them over the Sunday game time as they face Barca this week. They also aren't happy with time of the final. fk the fans as the fa want the tv money etc. Same old crap from the fa.

FA are idiots on this stuff.

If you get drawn against them again, just play the game against Everton as a kickabout in Stanley Park & then ring the FA up & just tell them the result! smile

yes

They brought the final forward and as such other games are kicking off at 3pm so for some inane reason they moved it to 5:15

As a policeman friend of mine said 'Giving the Chavs and the Scousers all day to get pissed and wound up genius'

This is just mental (from MSN)

"Virgin Trains have cancelled the majority of its direct services between Liverpool Lime Street and London Euston on 5 May - Cup final day. Engineering works mean only three trains will run to London from Liverpool on Cup final day, all before 8am. Kick-off against Chelsea is at 5.15pm and supporters will be unable to return to Liverpool by train after the game.

Thousands of Everton and Liverpool fans queued at Lime Street from before 6am on Saturday to get trains for a 12.30pm FA Cup semi-final at Wembley and the latter will again be inconvenienced for the final. Angry fans have blamed the FA for not taking travel into account."

Not forgetting Sunday...

Virgin is considering increasing capacity on its London-bound trains on 5 May but has warned of severe disruption for those trying to return to Liverpool the day after the Cup final. A "restrictive" service will be operating for trains due to leave Euston on 6 May as a result of engineering works in Milton Keynes and Liverpool-bound trains will instead depart from Rugby, almost 80 miles away. Passengers have been advised to travel on the east coast line to Sheffield, Doncaster or York before taking a cross-Pennine service or take a five-hour journey involving five trains.

We really shouldnt be laying any blame at the door of the train companies, I know they are an easy target but these dates have been set for 18 months, this is purely an FA cockup

I think you're being far too kind. The FA don't give a fk about any fan, and doesn't care whether they buy a ticket or not, it's all about TV money.

The FA would probably rather have 80000 corporate seats at Wembley.

P'raps supporters of both teams will be voicing their opinions of the FA at the game - that oughta make good TV smile
