Can't disagree with any of that.
Nobody has considered the possibility that Harry said no, either.
Tbh I think, out of the two, that this is the right decision. Harry seems a likeable bloke but if he was really heavyweight manager, why have none of the big clubs ever picked up on this hidden talent through his first 60 years on the planet?
Probably because some of those years he was a baby, then a toddler, then into childhood, teenager, and so on. How early do you think someone can become a professional manager? Nobody has considered the possibility that Harry said no, either.

The fact that most of the fans, media and ex-players called for someone else means he's doomed.
Unfortunately it does. In a perfect world he would have his chance, (he can't do any worse that Harry in my opinion), and be judged on that, however most fans are frankly prejudiced idiots when it comes to stuff like this, and the posts on this issue sort of prove it. He hasn't even accepted, and yet the grief is piling on. What does it say about people who will deride, and be,on someone before they have even accepted the post, or had his first game? Some of you have said media this, and media that. Well, this very same fickle media who sensationalize everything, and is part of the problem with England expectations is seeming y held up by some of you as something virtuous. It isn't
Give the guy a chance before you all start driving stakes through his heart. To do otherwise is a little pathetic.

Name one individual on this forum who thinks the media is virtuous
Well, quote a few have mentioned how media outlets are criticisms the potential appointment. Frankly, I could not give a hoot what the media says. They are only there to make mountains out of molehills, and sell papers. TheHeretic said:

As mentioned, previous opinions of Roy aside, the poor bloke is doomed unless England perform very well indeed.
Well, the media have had a few of their fellows. Sven was well received by the media, as was Capello. Neither set the world on fire. Personally, as I am away from UK media, I could not care a jot what the media say, and of any other fan chooses to take their view because they are the media, then they too can be added to that list.
I am hoping for a good run my Roy, even of it pisses off the media.

The English team currently consists of idiots, Rooney and Terry for example (and I say this as a Chelsea fan) both 'capable' of winning but more likely of losing us England games in one way shape or form.
Most of the others are just very average.
We talk about the manager as if he is given the crown jewels and is about to chuck them in Thames, he has a load of ste to work with and we won't win any tournament with the current team so what's the worst that can happen??
At least they will be able to speak to each other properly, probably the biggest advantage to be honest, he might even remind them of when then they actually enjoyed playing football without all the other distractions so at least we see some passion and enthusiasm.

Personally think he's a decent guy and he will get roasted by the redtops the first time INGURLAND put in a poor performance, he's a 'broadsheet' manager on a hiding to nothing. Same thing with Bobby Robson, nice fella who was vilified by the tabloids for not being Terry Venables.
Sadly I think you're right, although it would be interesting to see how he treats Liverpool payers after the disgraceful treatment he received there. As another bonus, we won't have to put up with media darling 'Arry moaning about being down to "bare bones" after 2 games (interview to be conducted through a car window, obviously)If it's an Englishman the FA want then he is easily the best qualified for the job.
He's tactically very astute - has international experience at the very highest level - is incredibly knowledgable on all facets of the game.
Not to mention he is perhaps the most even handed, fair, reasonable and honourable men in football today.
None of that will matter though - the press will vilify him - he doesn't have a 'profile' which seems to be far more important than actually having some nouse and ability.
It's a poisoned chalice - I hope for his own sake that he stays at West Brom. He's actually probably too good a guy to be the England manager - they don't actually deserve him.

I like him. Good appointment if he gets it.
He's done very well at getting average teams up the league, and getting an average (lets face it we are average at the moment) England side to do well in the Euro's I think is a possibility.
He got slated at Liverpool, but being fair "King Kenny" hasn't done much better, given the millions he has wasted.
It's up to us fans to get behind him, and pray that he can get Scholes out of international retirment, please!
