What was the atmosphere like inside the ground?
The BBC are making a thing of empty seats and Bournemouth fans singing "is this the Emitates?" although I didn't hear it on the TV.

I think it's just the usual BBC having a bit of a pop because they also say there was close on 57,000 attendance!
I think they're still having their love affair with the Olympics and the Hammers are the bad boys having put one over on the taxpayer

That was a difficult game but all in all not too bad given our weakened team. Some of the new signings played well IMO. I particularly liked Masuaku.
Loved the new stadium but then I was sat at the front just behind the technical areas so close to the action.
I thought Nordtveit looked good when I saw him a couple of weeks ago, less impressed with Tore & Feghouli .Loved the new stadium but then I was sat at the front just behind the technical areas so close to the action.
You've all summed yesterday up well.
Good to get the first win at the stadium out the way, pressure would have built the longer it went on.
When you think no Payet,Lanzini,Cresswell,Sakho,Carroll,Ayew etc (so maybe over 120 millions quids worth of talent, any win is a bonus regardless of performance.
Travel much better as well in and out.

Travel out was helped by keeping the bars in the ground open for an hour after the final whistle. I stayed for coffee (driving so no ) which seemed to help a lot.
It's also good that once in the station everybody gets on several different lines rather than all pilling onto the distinct line at UP.

I read that report & noticed the same snide comments from them. The BBC are making a thing of empty seats and Bournemouth fans singing "is this the Emitates?" although I didn't hear it on the TV.

There were some empty seats - the restricted view ones mostly; plus there was an odd bank empty in the East Stand - I assumed that there must've been an issue there - still almost 54k in there.
It was quiet at times - UP was sometimes as well - when it was noisy it was pretty loud. Not sure what they expect really.

I came out round the back of Westfield to Strat Int & then was directed back into the shopping centre meaning I could walk straight into the station and onto a platform for Shenfield. Rail station was very busy though & the queues following the main route back to Stratford were huge. It's also good that once in the station everybody gets on several different lines rather than all pilling onto the distinct line at UP.
I'll train it again for the game on Thurs but might try driving for the next weekend home game.

Travel for me was helped by an extra 4 trains an hour in and out with 12 carriages.!!It's also good that once in the station everybody gets on several different lines rather than all pilling onto the distinct line at UP.
Unfortunately the issue of standing reared itself again, with supporter against supporter ( even chants of where were you at Upton Park). From what I can gather this isn't within the clubs control, but has everything to do with the safety license ( but of course it's all part of BB,DG and DS's big masterplan apparently FFS!)
It's fking selfish to block someone's view.I used to love standing years ago, but rules are rules and the game and the club for better or worse, has moved on.If it's not sorted soon I can see some proper trouble in the ground.

Agree 100% but how can the stewards stop so many people from standing? It's fking selfish to block someone's view.I used to love standing years ago, but rules are rules and the game and the club for better or worse, has moved on.If it's not sorted soon I can see some proper trouble in the ground.
I love standing and think a separate safe standing area should of been factored in when it was re fitted.
I go to Lazio and Dinamo Bucuresti a few times a season think I will just stick to West Ham away matches in future.
Obviously I'm not the kind that would cause issues by blocking somebody else's view I only stand if everybody else is.

It's the safety licence for the stadium that doesn't allow it,not the club. Its just not possible.I go to Lazio and Dinamo Bucuresti a few times a season think I will just stick to West Ham away matches in future.

The seating/standing issue's going to be an ongoing problem though - noticed stewards appearing to chuck a few people out yesterday as well.

No probs filling it for the foreseeable future !!
No but no other stadium staff seem to make such an issue of it. Also it has been tested out in Scotland (Celtic) for at least a season if not longer.
Seeing as we are the newest stadium, now would of been the chance to test it out.
Then there's Germany that seem to love safe standing areas.

Wasn't there a similar issue at Old Trafford when they increased the size of that stadium (although I've only ever stood when I've been there - along with everyone else). Seeing as we are the newest stadium, now would of been the chance to test it out.
