Not sure if I'd say we kept them quiet, more that they didn't really click so didn't make the most of the opportunities we gifted them. Liverpool played their usual high press and our defence and midfield just couldn't handle it due to several reasons.

Poch - Got the formation and tactics wrong, our fullbacks where too high leaving acres of space in behind and our midfield wasn't strong enough.

Vorm - Inspires zero confidence at the back which makes the back line nervous.

Dier - Piss poor, used to be a decent player about a year ago but has regressed massively. Looked like a rabbit in headlights every time he got the ball and gave the ball away countless times. He needs to be dropped. It's saying something when I'd rather see Sissoko playing then Dier. Wanyama needs to get back in that position ASAP.

Eriksen - had probably one of the worst games I've seen in a Spurs shirt, gave the ball away countless times and I barely remember him putting a decent pass in.

Dembele - Not terrible but not great either.

We basically got overrun in midfield and every player seemed nervous on the ball.

Sure Kane is off the pace but the front two hardly saw the ball. Apart from one or two flashes of individual genius by Moura who ran with the ball, I don't remember them receiving a single decent pass from one of their teamates in a forward position.

I think Poch desperately needs to change it up. Alli back in the side, Lamela and Son to make more of an appearance, Wanyama in for Dier and we need Loris back ASAP.

It was a perfect storm, Liverpool didn't actually play that great apart from doing a good job in pressing but we lost some key players to injury and the players we did have on the field played very poorly.

Agree with all this - why does Dier get ahead of Wanyama??

It was a poor game with two teams not playing to the best of their ability. No way were Spurs "soundly beaten", we simply lost by one goal to a team who didn't play as badly as we did.

Have to say having sat near the benches that Klopp is absolutely fanastic entertainment on the touchline and I have even more of a man crush on Poch than I did before laugh

I was disappointed with both teams to be honest neither team played anywhere near thier capabilities.

We were just properly awful we gave the ball away 112 times, do that against the dog and duck and you'll lose the game nevermind doing it against Liverpool.

A performance like that doesn't deserve anything but even then ref does his job we probably escape with a draw I think that tells you how good Liverpool actually were..

Both teams will have to improve a great deal if they are going to win trophies.

Don't really know. Wanyama was injured for most of last year and Poch likes to re-introduce players back slowly, frustratingly so at times it seems. Perhaps Poch thinks he is still slightly off the pace but I'd still prefer him to Dier who really is looking very poor at the moment.

Your defence did a good job and are looking solid. Your midfield did a good job of keeping up the press but didn't really create too many problems with killer passing, we did that all by ourselves by constantly giving the ball away.

If your front three had been anywhere near the form of the latter half of last season, you would have destroyed us for all those mistakes, you just can't give the ball away so often in the modern game and expect a good result. Luckily they were mostly wasteful or downright greedy, often preferring to shoot when a much better lay off pass was on the cards which is odd considering they played so well for each other last year.

I think Mane is on a mission to prove he's as good as Salah and Salah took time to get into his groove last season too.

I agree though, the scoreline should have been an embarrassment and the only reason it wasn't was our own doing.

Bit of an intriguing press conference from Poch. He went through the players who have not travelled due to injury. Then said Trips and Toby have not traveled due to "technical reasons". Whatever that means.

Then slightly sticking the boot in to the players - "we are not challengers, difficult to be realistic contenders if we play like we did against Watford and Liverpool..." etc

Then in a bit of an Eric "seagulls following the trawler" moment, talked about a cow watching a train. WTF?

Never heard him be this down and negative and....a bit weird before.

Was bound to happen when he was so badly let down by Levy after commiting a long term contract to you,, shame as you have a very good manager.

Course he did, he will have wanted in the summer, you had the "2nd best squad" last and didn't win anything so do you genuinely think he didn't want new players in the summer? (I am pretty sure he went on record around signing his contract how you needed a change in mentality come summer with regards to transfers?)
You can't keep saying how amazing your squad is too then complain when you have 2 players out injured like you did Sat.

I was thinking the same. Sounds like he wants out.

Yep, I think he's realised this project isn't going to have much more legs when he's not allowed to improve his threadbare squad.

So you're saying the loss to Liverpool was Poch's fault for picking the wrong players available to him?
