I personally don't fancy watching another season of Rooney's attempted cross field wafty long balls that take 3 minutes to reach their target!
Those are all he offers in quite a lot of games! Wafter out to Valencia who then floats in a terrible cross that is easily cleared. Repeat 10-15 times per game. It is cringeworthy watching Ibra frown at how bad Rooney's touch is. He will stop trying to interchange with Rooney within a few games and start only passing to better players, I expect. He is already looking frustrated that passing to his 'partner' usually means losing the ball.
Aside from shooting, Rooney now does nothing better than any one of 3 or 4 players that could play at 10.
I feel football in general lacks good wingers these days. There doesn't seem to be a plethora of players who can actually take someone on and deliver a good cross whilst running. It seems to be all drag backs and full backs crossing when someone lays it off to them unchallenged. In a time when I also think there are many full backs who aren't all that great at actually defending and many love to turn their backs to a cross it would be the perfect time to counter marauding full backs with tricky, pacey wingers with a quality final ball.

Agree entirely, I'm a huge fan of the game but it int arf slow and dull at the moment across the boardStill early days as to whether the Rooney/Ibra partnership will work. Time is ticking for Rooney no doubt. I'm not sure he's looked after himself in the way that Giggs did (yoga) and Ibra does (martial arts). He's played at the top level since he was 16. He will be given time to get things right and that would be the right thing to do as he is/has been instrumental in lots of our success over the years. He won't be given particularly special season long treatment though by Mourinho. If his performances don't stack up he'll be benched.

What course do you play at?
I now live in the Big Smoke, and am a member at the London Club. But play Stand, Whitefield etc in Manc. Off for a game of badminton instead.
I'm far too athletic to play golf ,but I must know people you play with.

Smalling back too with Bailey should be interesting.
Tonight's team selection is going to be really interesting. Not sure Smalling walks straight back in, Bailly and Blind have looked good together and would be harsh on either to give way. So many options / questions midfield and attack too - can't wait to see what Jose is going to do.
Can't remember being this excited for a game in a while...... probably means we're gonna get a gubbing
