Comedy gold from the Scousers, who it appears have run out of ambition to strengthen their own squad having failed to win the league. City march on buying who they want/need guys, you are falling behind standing still with the world's best 11.
In other news, why are city /arsenal looking to pay so much for Alves, isn't he 35 or 36?
He's available on a free i believe so it's just huge wages i'd of thought. In other news, why are city /arsenal looking to pay so much for Alves, isn't he 35 or 36?
Alves has won 40 trophies in his career & he still looks fit as a fiddle.
I'd like someone like him at my club that's for sure .

Suprised at city interest though given they have money, arsenal don't and I can understand them being in the chase. Alves has won 40 trophies in his career & he still looks fit as a fiddle.

That’s why I wouldn’t buy an England international. You piss £20m away in the England tax.
Why is there such a thing as England tax? Any reason why these players would command a premium?janesmith1950 said:
Are there squad quotas for players from your own nation these days?
ThisPlus they will have survived a few seasons of the English game (EPL or Championship)
Plus settled in UK and most of the English players can speak English
Plus the aren’t going to be pining for sun, senoritas and olive oil after a year or 2 and their boyhood club is less likely to be RM or Barca or Juve
John Percy has confirmed LCFC have stated Maguire can go if United meet our valuation (85-90m). Maguire won't put in a transfer request (doesn't want to lose his loyalty bonus), so it's now over to you.
I know I pretty much said this last night, but obviously John Percy is a well known source for most footballing news.

There will be no deal, as Utd will not meet Leicester's valuation.
In my opinion.
I'm in two minds, I think if OGS wants him the United board will put up the money. If they were willing to offer 60-70m or whatever it was, then surely they'll stretch to the new price? I guess it depends how much they want him. We've said from the start it would have to be a bigger sum than that which was paid for VVD.In my opinion.

Deal won’t happen. Insane price. He will go for half that next year. It's a win win situation really for us (some may disagree). If we keep him we can hopefully break into the top 6, if we don't we get mega bucks to rebuild and invest.
I'll let you boys know if anymore information comes out.
What do you think are realistic aims for yourselves this coming season? I think the top 3 will be the same as last year, but obviously you've got to aim to finish 4th at a minimum.

Top 6 again. We aren't in a position to do much for a season or two yet. Maybe a cup run?I'll let you boys know if anymore information comes out.

Just playing good football like we know they can and tightening up the defense would be a massive start. We need to get rid of certain makeweight players too who are still around.
