You’d hope he’d be doing stuff behind the scenes ‘unofficially’, wouldn’t you?

When does the transfer window open? Before the start of July? June sometime rings a bell from previous years.

Let’s hope that him and Steidten are on the same page (or at least the same book) when it comes to new targets.

Edit - 14th June. https://www.skysports.com/football/news/12875/1313...

I’m not keen either. From what I’ve seen of Lopetegui’s management style and his reasons for walking out on Wolves his appointment doesn’t fill me with optimism. I was hoping for Amorim.
It’s done now… let’s see.
Look on the bright side. It's not Benitez, Dyche, Lampard, Gerrard......
HELL NO!!! laugh
As for Lampard… he’d have had balls the size of watermelons to even throw his hat in the ring. No fan would get behind him.

There are media photos done for the announcement of the pair of them at the stadium, no doubt even though he isn't getting paid until July they will be in contact and working through stuff.

Worth 5 mins of your time.

Not saying we are getting the messiah by any stretch but does a nice job of dispelling the idea that he is just a younger Spanish version of Moyes.

Lopetegui confirmed officially at West Ham. Good to see the phrase 'head coach' used and not 'manager' used in the comms - should ensure overall a better running of the club alongside Steidten.
Despite the criticism of Moyes, self included, I am finding it hard to be enthusiastic about this press release.
I was initially the same, but I've read a bit & listened to a few footie people talk about him & I'm a little more enthusiastic now.

He's lots of work to do - wonder if he was consulted on the Cresswell extension.

fun fact of the day, in Lopeteguis one season in English football, his team finished above Moyes's West Ham team biglaugh

Yeah but we had the cheat code that is Pedro Neto biggrin

He'll either do really well with WH or you'll get relegated in October, no middle ground biggrin

As I understand it he also sorted out the defence at the same time, becoming pretty mean at the back?

We need that as a start point!

bks.

The worst possible outcome for us.

No Paqueta and no money from his sale.

It's looking pretty serious.

I wonder if Betway are considering their options, pending the outcome? (And I don't mean sticking a tenner on him getting banned!)

Lots of negativity in the press, some even saying a serious lengthy ban. Weird the FA spent a whole season looking at it, before bringing the charges on just four counts. I get the feeling he wont play for us again if found guilty and given a lengthy ban, cannot see the club paying his salary on the playing staff. Big loss that.

In brighter news looks like we are sniffing around and close to getting a centre back in Fabricio Bruno, has international cap as well recently.

I believe that he'd gone back to Man C a while ago having picked up (yet) another injury.

From WH perspective strong links with a Brazilian defender last few days.

Also, well done Flynn Downes winning promo w/ S'hmtpon, assume they will be interested in making that move permament.

He's been immense for Saints this season, and sorely missed when he's not played.

Would love to see him stay after his loan spell, but think he'll be back at West Ham come Auguat..

I dont think he will want to come back.

Soucek/Alvarez/JWP all sit in those sort of positions and he wont want to go from PL Southampton certain starter to sitting on the bench for us or filling in around the edges. He is a West Ham fan which makes the decision more difficult I suspect, but I do think if he can, he will push for a move.

Depends on how J-Lo rates him I guess, compared to the others. At this moment in time I think I’d take him over JWP?

Its a fair point, there is money to be had there i.e. sell JWP bring in Downes and have hopefully £30m in your pocket. The Pac 85m loss is going to hit hard.

We are going to need a bit of that Brightonesque style magic in the transfer market this year I think in terms of a rebuild, maybe thats actually a good thing.
