Once a Gunner always a Gunner (well except the that snake RVP)..
Funny you should mention RVP as I ended up on his wiki page last night after some random internet trawling. He left on 132 goals for the club, 50ish shy of Cliff Bastin and Ian Wright. He scored 120 or so more goals in his career.

It isn't inconceivable that he could have reached Henry's record if he stayed until he retired. Was probably a bit far away, but even two more seasons would have seen him get to Bastin and Wright. Could have won an FA cup or two as well. Would have been an absolute club legend, regarded as highly as just about any player in the history of the club.

Shame, but he made his choice. Same as Sanchez. We always seem to get over them!

And it makes Auba even more of a hero for actually hanging around!
RVP moved to win the PL which he did so whatever people think about him him he was proved right....an player will want that over a club scoring record.

I look back on that 2008 season when Arsenal blew the league as one that changed the long term dynamic for the club which it’s still to recover from. Honestly think now under Arteta there’s more positive momentum than there has been for years....although part of that is because things got so bad.

Sounds like Arteta is very interested in Houssem Aouar, if you pulled that off be a brilliant signing....

Not sure what the hype is about him to be honest, didn’t see anything about his game that stood out in the champions league game I saw, certainly not like Upamecano stood out anyway, perhaps he had an off day.

Don't like the pink, prefer the yellow from last season tbh.

In other news, it looks like Jack Wilshere will be available again soon, sounds like West Ham are gonna bin him off.

Not really a surprise.
He'll be lucky to get taken on by a Championship team.

One of the few kits I've ever bothered buying, I think it was absolutely incredible. Such a shame about the away kit this season.

Pains me to say but Chelsea are going to be right up there if not win it next season with the players they have brought in especially up front.
Werner/Ziyech/Pulisic/Havertz are absolutely top quality players.
We have a fine tradition of signing world class strikers, and seeing them go to hell in a handcart before our very eyes. Expect Werner not to score a goal this side of Xmas!

Pulisic though, now there's a player who could be the next Hazard and more. Needs more consistency, but he's still young. A world beater in the making.

I think had he stayed on the pitch you'd have won the FA Cup. I was seriously impressed until that point, even when he got injured you can see in the slo mo that he registers the pain and still takes his shot. Pure desire, you're lucky to have him for sure.

Good win that, solid performance with the team he put out.
Willian with 2 assists and Gabriel was solid apart from that early lapse and got a goal too.

A lot of positives from that win today.....IF they can get the rest of the squad rebalancing right we could do pretty well this season. Just read that Arsenal have accepted a bid for Martinez from Villa....it’s sad to see him go after what he did at the end of last season but with constrained resources we can’t have two first choice keepers Guendouzzi even posted something on Twitter which looked like he’s re-engaged with the team....guess nobody has come forward for him and he’s worked out that maybe he’s not as good as he thought he was.

Martinez and Torreira to go and Sokratis too by the sounds of it...still feels like another departure will be needed to balance the books.

They've been trying to buy the Brentford keeper as well, but Brentford rejected the bid, and AFC might have to go to £10m to get Bees to sell.

Sad, but he deserved that move after 10 years sat on the bench, good luck to him. He had a chance and grabbed it with both hands, now where are we going to find a backup goaly for £10 and a packet of cheesy puffs.

Disappointed that he's gone as he's been amazing since he came in, but last season before he played we would have been lucky to get £5m for him.
Was this just a purple patch, who knows, but I was actually really confident with him in goal while Leno was out.

Good luck to him at Villa and hope he continues his form and thankfully he was able to leave on a high with 2 trophies, also can't forget his tears and calling home after winning the FA Cup.

Apparently we are signing some Icelandic keeper for £1.5m so should be enough change left over to put towards the Auoar/Partey fund.
