Put out by LFC, it will be like 4 new signings! Conincidence on Transfer Deadline Day in lieu of any actual transfers?

In the current market, all better than anything we could of hoped to sign....Texeira whilst looking a decent prospect wouldn't shift Couthinho out of the starting 11. I doubt we'd have signed a striker close to as good as Sturridge (if he can stay fit for a month or two) and it's going to be a huge boost to our defence to have Skrtel back. As for Origi, he's still yet to prove himself in this league but only time will tell. He reminds me of a slightly quicker Igor Biscan when he runs with the ball..

But I get what your saying and it does smack of a distraction announcement to the fact we won't sign anyone...

The only thing I disagree with is Skrtel being a huge boost. IMO he's no better than any of Lovren, Sakho, Caulker, or Toure. They all have different strengths and weaknesses, but IMO they all average out about the same. However I think Caulker, Lovren and Sakho could get better.

He has much in his arsenal - tap ins, headers, long range, 1 on 1s, jinking through defenders, shooting with both feet... Clearly not all goals scored from those long crosses that we don't do... I just wonder if its "big club" syndrome and he won't adjust. Would be great if he could.

BBC said:
"Liverpool were not expecting any deadline day outgoings but that has changed in the last couple of hours with an approach from Newcastle United for outcast defender Jose Enrique.

"The 30-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and is on a reported £65,000-a-week. Liverpool are more than happy to let the Spaniard return to the club he left in summer 2011 in a £6m move.

"The question now is whether he can be persuaded to move to Newcastle rather than keeping his options open by waiting until the summer."
Please. Pretty please. Let. This. Be. True.

They're going to pay £6m for him?? Has Damien Comolli started working for Newcastle?

Tony Barrett - José Enrique’s proposed return to Newcastle United from Liverpool appears to have fallen through after the defender was unable to agree personal terms with his former club.

So many players are on such big wages they are not arsed if they play or not...

When will football clubs learn to do a decent contract - crazy world we live in

Someone will be along in a minute to tell you how crap he is and that most of them goals were easy tap ins rolleyes When he finds his scoring feet he will be a great player for us.. Lots of strikers take time to adjust to a new club.. Give him game time and he will score plenty of goals.

Everything that is wrong with premiership football, sometimes cost me £58 a ticket to watch us in a standard seat...

Exactly. Does make you wonder what the point of holding "13 months of talks" was. At least with the new stand and all the increases in revenues, perhaps then there will be room for change the following season. But perhaps not. It will be "like it or lump it" like other clubs...

Isn't it saying thats what we paid for him?

Be a real shame if he'd rather sit on his arse rather than play.

Aren't modern footballers great! rolleyes

so long as its selling it nothing will change, the only way of something happening is for all fans of all clubs to get together and start boycotting games...

Only then , when it hits their pockets will they listen

Count yourself lucky that you're local!

Saturday game for me would be £50-80 on train, £30-60 for the ticket + food + ~8 hours of travelling. However I usually come up for the midweek matches as tickets are easier to come by, but that means a day off work and another £50-90 on hotel.

I know 'out-of-towners' get a bit of flak for only wanting to come to the big matches, but when it costs a minimum of £100 + 8 hours of travelling to see the game, it's easy to see why we don't bother seeing us play the likes of Sunderland or West Brom or Villa!

That would be the ideal. Sadly will never happen - there will always be people to take your place in the crowd who can afford it and will be only too happy to get a ticket.

That means Sturridge will be injured by Friday.
Cant agree with you there, if he is coming back on Thursday he will never last until Friday.

Let's be honest for a minute. If say you are on £20k a year doing a job that another person is willing to pay you £80k to do. Are you telling me you or me (or most of us) wouldn't up sticks? Loyalty and morals genrally go out of the window when it comes down to money. In any walk of life.

I think most of us wanted to see Enrique gone but such is life.
