Interesting that no one else has come out with the same story that the Guardian reported with ETH definitely getting sacked.

All the reporting confirmed that no decision has been made about ETH. They have been speaking to potential other managers, but they are completing a review starting this week
This has been handled appallingly, which isn't a great look for the new regime who swept in on a tide of reinstating competence and professionalism. Even if ETH does stay now, what message has been sent out? That the owners clearly have no faith in him? Some will have knives out from day 1 of the new season, both in and out of the dressing room, and he'll start high up the "first to get sacked" charts.

Incredibly disappointing all round.
What has? The mediascum will print anything, it's pointless getting drawn into battles with them. They don't care what they write. How one newspaper 'knows' he'll get sacked shortly is ridiculous. 'Chinese whispers' can be spun into any story that will get their website views

The story about ten hag definitely going clearly didn’t come from the club, I don’t see what there is to be annoyed about or what the club has done wrong.

The story from the club (which has been reported by 3 sources who are top tier and clearly have links to the club) is that the club will be conducting a full review of the season and then making a decision. That seems perfectly reasonable, and eminently more sensible than making a decision based on 90 minutes of football alone.

Looks like it came from another source when speaking to clubs about the manager merry go round. Basically it was bks and just leaked to cause st.

As you mention all the other journo are stating nothing has been confirmed and a review is happening this week.

Yep if Ducker, Stone and The Athletic are all saying the same thing then it’s from club sources.

The fact all 3 haven’t got a single source saying Ten Hag is definitely going does suggest that other journo got it elsewhere. He may end up looking silly depending what happens this week, or it may be a good piece of journalism where he got a genuine exclusive. Let’s see!

Ridiculous having the semi finals at Wembley (imo)

It devalues the final as an "occasion"
Exactly this-unless it was two London clubs in a semi final obviously
There'd still be enough grounds to play at without having to play at Wembley. Arsenal, Spurs and West Ham are all 60k plus and while that's way short of Wembley's capacity, I'd still rather that then play at Wembley which should be finals only.
Isn't it all to do with paying for the build of the stadium ? I do agree it really shouldn't be for the semi finals by but FA cup traditions seem to be getting ripped up every year .

Congratulations to Manchester United btw , it was a very enjoyable game , sure is going to be a busy summer for United

Until it comes from Ornstein or Henry Winter then it should be taken with a pinch of salt. All the itk’s are having a field day getting all the clicks over this.

Seems that a review is taking place this week while EtH is on holiday so I’m guessing we will know more soon!

Speak of the devil, he’s just confirmed that McKenna is staying at Ipswich. Wise move by him and if he does ok this season then he wont be short of clubs wanting him next season.

Yeah that was the best option for him. Keep them up and he'll be taking his pick of where to go next summer. Even if he doesn't it can still work out - look at Kompany and Bayern for example. Going to Chelsea would have been madness, Brighton possibly but I think like you staying at Ipswich is the best overall.

Given it was (supposedly) Mckenna being lined up for us does rather suggest, as people have stated above, the media don't have a clue, as usual, and were just making it up / making 2+2=5 for views. So no change there then.

That's also possible, yes. Maybe a "wait until next summer for us" type conversation.

What the board have done, which is new, is not give Anthony Martial a contract renewal. He's confirmed he is off. Not really a surprise, but still in a way a sign of change and new things to come. Probably quite the poster child for the Glazer / Post Fergie era. Lots of potential, some moments of real class but bogged down by long periods of being broken and / or seemingly unable to be fully motivated. There's not been a much better sight, or rarer one, than a truly flying and happy Martial. Great when it happened, though. Good luck to him, I guess.

Bit harsh - not his fault he was perpetually injured and the club kept chucking money at him wobble

I’ve looked through the online news reports and I can’t find anything about Monaco forcing Utd to sign him in 2015, or about him holding a gun to the head of the chief executive in 2019 and demanding a contract extension.

As the previous poster mentioned, don’t blame the player. Blame the cloob (that’s my Ten Hag accent).

Does anyone think there’s anything to the reported issue with Nice and United both being in the Europa League next season? I’m unsure of the rules, but seen it mentioned in a few places yesterday.

Exactly. If someone says to you they will give you 200k+ a week for the next 5 years while you play at United, you'd be mad to say no. He's just an example amongst many others of what's been wrong at the club for the last 10 years.

I’ve wondered about that since the start of the Ineos interest. Is it ANY stake that matters or is it just a controlling stake? If it’s any stake at all, I can’t imagine how Ineos can get around it without giving up one of their assets. Saying that, I understand shell-companies are all the rage in terms of football club ownership and funding… whistle

There wouldn’t. Spurs have around 50k season ticket holders arse 40k odd. We were the reason it got moved in the first place.

Were we both to get in a semi we could sell out Wembley several times over.

As for having it at the council house? I’d rather watch the game from home, would probably have a better view too! No football should be played there nevermind an fa cup semi final.

The best overall atmosphere i have witnessed was at the spurs v arsenal semi at old trafford ( would have been when Wembley was being rebuilt as the final was in Cardiff.)

I was in the posh seats in the middle and the stadium was truly split down the middle - one half for each team

It was like an epic stereo.

I always think of that when I go to game now and when the away team scores, unless you are sat next to them it sounds like someone has turned a transistor radio on.
