Should never have been in the playoffs given where we were going into the international break but finishing third after going so close was always going to be difficult and so it proved. I didn't think Southampton were terribly impressive today but they took one of the few chances they created whereas we didn't and that was the difference.

The question now is what will our squad look like at the start of next season? I fear some of our better players will be heading out of the door - not least because we might have to sell to balance the books - so I'm not sure what sort of position we'll be in to go again come August....

Farke clueless! Listening to his press conference just now and the guy is actually clueless! I've given him the benefit of the doubt over the course of the season and he's failed to achieve the basic goal.
You can have all the possession in the world, but if you're afraid to shoot you will never win games. Always likely to concede too which makes it even worse.

The amount of managers out of work at the minute, de zerbi, cooper, Potter (discount de zerbi for championship) but I'd take cooper or Potter in a heartbeat over farke now!
Owners need to be ruthless! Otherwise it's another 16 years in the wilderness!

I know emotions are running high at the moment and losing a final is horrible (try losing a penalty shootout).

You have an excellent team that didn't turn up today and you'll smash it next season - bear in mind there has (IMO) been a stronger Championship this season.

That said....players wearing gloves? laugh Get rid of your fancy Dan players. All fart and no ste.
Cash out on Bamford.

This team is now decimated!
Meslier, gray, ampadu, rondon, gruev, gnonto, James, summerville, rutter just to name a few that won't be anywhere near the starting line up for the first championship game of next season. Even kamara too! FFP will decimate that squad! They had to go straight back up. It was the only option.

Farke isn't clueless. We got 90 points. We did the semi with ease. We lost a final on very slim margins. We weren't the worst team but equally Southampton didn't not deserve it.

Have another go next season. We need to get the transfers right though and we desperately need to get the best out of Piroe if he's here. Summervilles goals will not be there.

I hesitate to go as far as saying the squad will be decimated but I certainly think some of those who are in theory our best players will be leaving this summer - some because they'll want go (e.g. Summerville), others because we might need to sell them for financial reasons (which sadly might mean the likes of Gray).

I know a few weeks ago one or two on here were quoting what happened under Bielsa when we failed in the playoffs but then went up the following season. However, on that occasion we kept the squad together so we could go again but I just don't see that happening this time - assuming he remains in post (which on balance personally I think he should) it won't be an easy summer for Farke.

The focus for the summer needs to be on keeping as much of the current squad as possible. Don't need additions, just need to replace/retain Rodon for another year and keep us much of the rest as possible.

We have more or less a full XI out on loan but under contract so hopefully we can raise some funds from the likes of Aaronson, Roca etc.

Inevitable few weeks of mocking from opposition fans incoming, but wouldn't have it any other way. Would rather be Leeds in League Two than anyone else in the Premier League. Plus we'll be on Sky every week again next season.

Gutted for my childhood team but Norwich result aside the teams form had gone down the pan recently. Farke just seemed to run out of ideas. Tippy, tappy stuff with no end product.

Will never win a game of football if you don't actually shoot at the opposition goal! Can have all the possession on the world but it's worthless if you don't actually try and score.
I get the possession thing, if you have the ball, the opposition can't hurt you but when the opposition has 5% of the ball but hits your goal with 2 shots, both on target and scores with 1 and you still don't actually have a shot on goal till James comes on the field!
Farke's idea of chasing a game is to bring on 7 forward players and hope it gets us a goal! No structure to substitutes! Hit and hope!
If farke stays then I'd get behind him but he must be more tactical aware, but I also wouldn't be bothered if they got rid of him.
Time will tell before the start of next season. Suppose we will be on tv for 35 games again like this season.

Word from Phil Hay is the 49ers will keep Farke and on balance I'm ok with that - he did after all get us 90 points with next to no pre-season and constant disruption until the summer transfer window closed.

But the way performances fell away after the international break was very disappointing and the apparent lack of any Plan B was a major concern; therefore, while I see Farke in charge at the start of next season, I'm not sure how long he'll last if we make a poor start...

Rumours abound that Red Bull will be our new sponsors with allegedly "the largest sponsorship deal on EFL history".

Theres some opinion that it could lead to a takeover and down the route to Red Bull Leeds but they already had that chance some years ago so I don't see that happening this time.

Now announced this morning. Front of shirt sponsor for next season and 'official energy drink partner' (replacing who?!), plus an unspecified stake in the club.

First time we've had a decent recognisable sponsor that isn't a betting company for as long as I can remember. Strongbow probably the last.

How long until we see Max Verstappen down at Thorp Arch and Leeds players in the RB garage at Silverstone for social media content?

Well, I think this is a good thing on the face of it. I wonder if it will tempt any players who would otherwise have left to remain at the club?

It feels like good news from a commercial point of view although it doesn't sound like Red Bull are going to have any boardroom presence or say in how the club's run (at least for now)?

In itself I doubt the change will affect the mindset of any players who are looking to leave either - they're probably looking very much at their own career prospects and in that context I suspect our failure to get promoted will influence their thinking far more than Red Bull's arrival.
