Why you would pick Curtis over Harvey is beyond me, he's barely played since the end of Feb. Great news for Quansah though, what an amazing first season he's had.

Great first season

I am still having flashbacks to that pass he played to Fernandez, but would think he's done enough to be considered a long term option for us now. Is four CB options enough?

I know it's been mooted before on here but if Trent is potentially an overpriced "spare part" this coming season, if Slot does away with the inverted role, should we cash in now or could he successfully be converted to right midfield?

I'm just not sure he is able to improve the defensive side of his game; he looks an amateur at times with constant ball watching and then realising he has to run, when the oppo player is already in behind.
I've been saying for ages that we need to sell him. It has to be about the team, not the individual. He cannot defend in the slightest, which straightaway means other players are compensating for him, weakening their own jobs. He cannot press nor tackle - there are much better attacking mids within the club let alone if we went to market. He is a fantastic passer of the ball, but how often does that lead to a goal chance?

I think if we can get 'top money' for him then we do cash in and use those funds to strengthen the team. He may do well somewhere else but with the way we play at the moment I feel he weakens the team rather than strengthens it.

Yep, agree with that.

Will be interesting to see what happens. Slot may also want to see and give players a chance to prove themselves to him. We'll see shortly I guess.

I remember Thiago giving the ball away similarly on multiple occasions.

For such a young lad he's been truly exceptional for me and made himself a serious contender for the starting XI even if Ibou is fit. Endo can also play CB in a pinch so i'd say we are covered for now until Virgil needs replacing at some point, and even then a Quansah/Konate pairing could e good enough?

Yes Mac Allister as well.

That one stuck out as it was the beginning of the end of our season and also to the only one of their players who has the ability to pull off that first time shot.

Wouldn't want to be critical of Quansah at all. I think he's been great.

Quansah and Konate good enough I reckon, we'd just be short on "leadership" so would need one of the others (at least) to step up. Or bring a midfielder in with those qualities.

Henderson (and milner) had their limitations but they were good in that regard.

Looking at that England squad I can see Gomez going as general back 4 cover and TAA doing a lot of bench warming as well.

Shouldn't be too physically knackering for them.

Looks like Nunez will be staying according to a respected journalist:

Slot could well get him to click. Diaz for me is the one that may have to make way for a proven striker. I'd like to see someone like a Bowen, who could be a good alternative to Jota. Definitely need to freshen up the forward line somehow.

100% need others to step up. I'm hoping to see Szobo really pick up this season as he's captain of his country and should be a commanding presence on the pitch for us. Mac is also really developing in that area.

A truly commanding 6 is still the thing we need to prioritize this summer IMHO.

I personally don't think Diaz hasn't been fully fit since his bad injury(s) I've also seen enough of him to tell there is a proper player in him, I personally

would much sooner see Nunez go, as I see nothing but disappointment from that lad, He not only misses almost every chance but is constantly off side,

surely he learned that as a kid ? He's also cost our other strikers goals as he's been offside when they score. hehe The guy ain't good enough end of imo

Get rid of Diaz for Bowen. Give Darwin a season to improve under Slot. If it doesn't happen, he can go next summer.

With Shaw the only recognized LB in the squad and still an injury worry I can see Joe starting. I'd also have Trent in the MF as offers something different alongsde the likes of Rice, Bellingham and Foden with his passing.

If Diaz goes I'd shift Darwin to LW as think he plays better there, Salah to CF as think it suits his game more these days and bring in Kudus from WHU to play on the right.

I do like Bowen but he's 28 this year so not our usual age bracket for an expensive signing?

The change in coaching style could be transformational for Darwin, as could a shift out to the left. I see more potential with Darwin than with Diaz, and he's 3 years younger.

If Edwards and co and doing the buying it will be players we haven't heard of that fit "the profile" surely?

True. Bowen would be silly money with the English tax.

Wouldn't hurt our home grow numbers though.

On that note, what do we think of Gallagher from Chelsea? Played brilliantly against us at CDM earlier in the season and has been a real leader for them through tough times this year?

Beyond another DM, a CM to allow Mac to be the number 10 we wanted and a solid CB to partner Virg we have a very good squad.

I hope for not much change.
With Elliot coming on very nicely, I'd swap the extra CM for a forward so we have 6 options for 3 spots.

All this depending on progress from the academy.

If Diaz goes, he'll go for silly money also. Both are 27 but only one of them knows where the back of the net is located.

Gallagher is a very good player but i still think we need someone right now who has a few more war wounds playing in that position.

Is Slot likely to try to bring anyone with him? Santiago Gimenez seems to have been linked with a few clubs.

Have to agree to disagree on this, I don't believe he can be coached to find the net and stay on side (he's not like 16-17 ) we never paid all that money for

a player who is miles off the finished article, (sadly it appears we did) If he cost us 15 million I could live with that, but not 75-80m or whatever the final fee

was, he runs fast and blasts the ball at the keeper (repeatedly)
