How quick did the new STI seem versus your RB5? Is your RB5 a PPP'd car?
My RB5 is a PPP one. The new STI did feel a lot quicker, despite not having driven my RB for nearly 2 months. It would have been more interesting taking it for a drive having turned up in the RB and not the fiesta, but I'd still say it is much quicker. The ride was very harsh, but I don't mind as it will stop the husband using it/wanting me to drive anywhere instead of him. So win win.Swaying towards the blue today. I really think it will depend on what day I order it.

Just shows acceleration figures don't tell the whole story, as pretty sure a PPP'd Turbo 2000/RB5 has a 0-60 time of 5.0-5.2s which is very similar to the new car IIRC.Swaying towards the blue today. I really think it will depend on what day I order it.
The colour is a tricky one, all the best in coming to a decision!

Initially I was really keen but my old mantra of never buying new cars has made me back down.
I am, however, contemplating a 2008 700bhp RS6 to replace my diesel Outback...
Don't contemplate, get it bought! I am, however, contemplating a 2008 700bhp RS6 to replace my diesel Outback...
I did test drive a new Sti and it was lovely, really nice steering. Really need an estate for the family car though. Hence the nice sensible 4wd auto Audi estate...

Amazing!! It's total mental, I love it. So many gadgets and gizmos on it, just getting used to it. Never had a brand new car before, it smells lovely.
Good for you. That new car smell is so unique! How do you like the 2.5ltr engine? I was an ardent fan of the 2.0ltr, but I have to say for road driving its a great turbo and engine combination. OK so far, not really had chance to compare the two yet. Will be getting the RB out at the weekend to wash it, as it is a bit minging after having to use it for a fortnight since selling the fiesta. Cue an excuse to drive it before it goes away for a rest.
Will let you all know, the new one just seems a bit smoother to drive and a bit less "shouty". But still eager to bite you.
