Remap better mpg ??
Discussion
Cheers for replies , Well I am going to get it mapped just need to get the cash together , only a mild map , air filter is done , mid section is already a straight through and back box is a sport one , fuel pressure is good and I know they say the pump is a weakness but I don't believe in changing what's not broken , I have a spare pump which I will fit when it does need changing
Hi I can understand your logic re the pump , my Foz sti was mapped but I never paid any notice to mpg before and after so nothing to compare it too , it's on origonal pump after a map ,130 k miles on the clock , and I have now bought a fuel pressure tester which I will do in and off , the two people I know of in the herts area is Richard at FB tuning or a chap called Paul previously from PTS in Luton , now Xmas is out of the way and pay day due it's time to get it sorted at last I'm sure it will be a good way to go forward
A chap called Paul he is from Uxbridge pm if you need his details , it was all done on the road , we lowered the boost it was originally hitting 1.5 but he felt it was probably a bit high and would be better at 1.45 , it was ok at 1.5 but was close to boost cut level , he estimated around 320 to 330 as it was thought Jap cars are around 285 , he said if I was going more then a new pump would need doing , he said pump was ok at 1.5 , and I'm not fussed about changing the pump , I just wanted a bit more sensible power , I feel a drag race v fsti coming on
I don't blame the mapper as when he did it the car was fine , but since the map the amount of boost it produces went up and now it's hitting the boost cut , he's coming out to turn the boost down , it appears the Ecu continued to learn after the map and allowed it to boost higher any thoughts any one , what s boost cut set to ? Do some raise it or is it as high as it should be ? There is clearly a lot more grunt in the engine due to boost levels
Well map been tweaked now target boost is 1.45 which its does easily and I think peak was just over 1.5 I think he said 1.54 , it was going wrong in the lower revs around 3200 rpm , so he did some thing around those revs I think he said 97 per cent duty cycyle but I don't confess to understanding it but car appears better , not lost any power , and now hopefully will be ok on a cold day
