There isn't a street light for about 5 miles here. I'll pop out and have a peek. Thanks for the heads up.

Two scopes ready to go, and a spotting scope, a pair of 10x50s and even dug the SLR out to get some better snaps. Been planning it for weeks and looking forward to blowing off the astronomy cobwebs.

...and it's sodding overcast. F*cksocks.

Seen Mars, Jupiter and Venus just now. Can't see Mercury. Not too sure how Saturn is different to Mars to the naked eye either..

I'm all the way over here... <Waves>

Jupiter and Venus are just dipping below the horizon, and I can't see them cos there is a big bloody hill in the way.

Crystal clear skies here for the last hour or so. Tried a long exposure of jupiter but it didn't come out very well. Few decent ones of the moon but it's too cold for me to want to bother staying out there all night and have to lug 80KGs of gear back in hehe

I saw (I think) two planets fairly close to each other last night.. any idea what I saw. The one on the right looked slightly larger and brighter than the other...

(I'm aware that's not a lot to go on, but I'm not much of an astronomer!)

The 'lower' planet would Have been Venus, the one diagonally up and to the left, Jupiter.
