I went to an astronomy/star gazing evening last night here in Somerset.
I only have a pair of celestron binoculars, but I was amazed at what I could see through them.
The guy holding the event bought along a very nice telescope, which he aligned to Jupiter.
The image was amazing, you could see 4 of its moons, and Jupiter itself was so clear, you could see the rings around it easily, most impressed!

I need a telescope!

Our astronomy society hosted an even at the RSPB lodge in Sandy, Beds.

About 25 people turned up, we couldn't have asked for better skies!

His telescope is even better than Hubble if that's the case. Even Hubble can't see the Rings of Jupiter.

Were you actually looking at the atmospheric bands of Jupiter?

I n that case i imagine it is even clearer up there, what with me being near london and still suffering so much light pollution!

I will be moving up to the middle of aberdeenshire next week. Then i will get to see lot's and lot's!
Should be a culture shock, enjoy.
