One of the interesting revelations of the podcast is that software didn't exist as such and wasn't part of the tender. It was bundled in with hardware. IBM had to develop it.

We don't record our talks so no video, I'm afraid. I don't expect any "moon-hoax believers" but you never know.

A recent talk (not by me) was on the work and theories of Dr Emanuel Velikovsky - and that got a bit lively.
I understand Eric; thanks for your continued work toward preservation and understanding of this important legacy to humanity.

I believe it's crucial - and that the real story does not get lost in the mythology which has grown up around it.

America's Finest Hour - in my humble opinion.

And I'm finally going to visit Cape Canaveral in a few weeks time - yippee.

Well you'll certainly love it. Tickets are a little cheaper if you buy them online first I seem to remember. I got a ticket for the car park at the same time and printed it out at home.

Probably best to sit on the left side of the tour bus as you enter for a better view of the VAB.

Eric, if you haven’t already done it have you considered offering yourself up as a guest speaker on Cunard.
It’s not all ‘professional’ celebrities and those with books to peddle they want, but interesting SME’s like you. having seen you pop up on these threads many a time and having been on a few cruises With them I can’t help but think you’d be a ‘goodun’. Basically the payment is a free cruise for two for the sake of giving talks 2 or 3 times a week.

What a lovely idea. I'm not a professional speaker so don't think I'd have much clout at that level. However, over the past couple of years I've come to enjoy giving talks to local groups.

I would highly recommend the podcast series 13 minutes to the Moon which tells the story of the NASA Space Programme and the ambitious goals set by President J F Kennedy and the galvanising effect that this had on the nation.

It's a very intimate insight into the young and risk embracing team in the control room and also, transports you into the feeling within the space shuttles as they both orbit the moon, as in the case of Apollo 11 and actually land on the moon.

All of it is nicely produced and framed by a spacious and fitting soundtrack from Hans Zimmer, who also invented the Zimmer frame, as modelled by Harvey Weinstein in his recent court appearances.
I'm on episode 7 currently and it's bloody marvellous, thanks for the link smile

Enjoy... episode five on the significance of Apollo 8 was possibly my favourite. I felt as though I was in the space craft, pressing my nose up against the window and looking out onto the lunar surface.

Can't wait for Series 2, have tried a few different 'Space' themed Podcasts and this one wins hands down. It did encourage me to look into audio books and I tried ''Rocket Men: The Daring Odyssey of Apollo 8 and the Astronauts Who Made Man's First Journey to the Moon by Robert Kurson, which was outstanding, never thought I had 13 hours or whatever it was of concentration in me!

I hope it didn't prove too catastrophic!

Is he related to Immanuel Velikovsky?

They are very close relatives. In fact, they are identical - separated only by my poor spelling.

The speaker did have to undergo some rigourous questioning. A fair chunk of the audience was made up of retired engineers and scientists.

Have you managed to tie your trip in with a launch at all Eric?

I genuinely hope you have an amazing time and enjoy everything there, if you do all of the tours and all of the presentations/films available it could be a two day visit to the KSC visitor centre.

When you're there pop to the "Grills Seafood deck and Tiki bar" for a nice lunch alongside the water watching the Dolphins swimming about.

Yes but Velikovsky's ideas were a load of old cobblers anyway.
