Hi All, I'm a Chemist/Geologist, graduated from Keele in 1991, then went into secondary science teaching. Some of the experiments we can do are good fun, but the health and safety police have taken most of the really good stuff!
Still, it just makes things a bit more challenging to motivate/enthuse the little darlings with the content we have left! teacher
Teaching since 91' and you still call them darlings? You sure? Hehe.

Well I'm doing A-level Biology/Chemistry/Physics,eek I think I must be mad. Scrap that, I am mad tongue out

I think "slime" is the best class experiment thing. I can't remeber what goes into it but it acts like slime you handle it but bounces when you throw it tongue out god way of distracting RE teachers

PhD in Chemistry, but work in a more biological application/life science.

But the way the job market is going, I can't see me being able to stay in this industry.

Im a recently qualified biomedical scientist , currently working in a call centre cold calling people all day on £11k a year , as i cannot get a decent job anywhere , sucks pretty badly as i sort of assumed becoming a scientist would atleast help me get a decent job , i cant even get a job as a lab technition so im not holding out for anything really . I spose this is the case for most young people at the moment and my not highly aspirational dreams of my own house seem ludacrously far away right now guess il be living with the parents untill im 30 lol . Bit annoying as it seems as if the current generation of 30 - 50 year olds decided to sell out my and other young peoples future so they could reap the benifits and enjoy it themselves . I was always told that working hard (9A's and A*'s at gcse 2A's and a B at a level and a 2.1 degree from a russel group university) would lead to a better life , although the only jobs i can get are working with people who dropped out of school at 16 , so kind of suck really .The only thing that keeps me going is using my measly pay to mod my focus st and 330bhp always brings a smile to my face .

Sorry for having a moan but feeling pretty st at the moment , just wondering how many othe people are in this situation .
