That was pretty much the whole of England as well and I saw that one (Wigan). This one sounds very similar to what I saw then, and people on Facebook saw this one in Wigan too.

I guess the end really is nigh (or the warranty is up on the ISS).

That's where I am, from where I was it looked like it was flying low over Christopher Park, at first I thought it was a shed load of chinese lanterns except it was way too bright, way too fast and going in the wrong direction for the wind.

I also saw this, about 11 oclock, at first I thought it was a plane comming into the local airport, twin landing lights very bright and appeared to be moving slow, no noise from it, them it just broke up , very like a firework, the remaining parts continued across the sky and faded out, a short time latter there was a bang that might have been conected.

Well me and my girlfriend saw the earlier one from outside the Cherry Gardens passing parallel to Wigan Lane and it looked to be low over the Haigh Hall area but clearly not because it was seen all over the UK. Very impressive.

Damn, how big was this thing? Looks enormous considering the altitude.

And is anyone worried its just the first of a series(possibly with a real big one on the way!).

I saw 5 meteors in 15 mins tonight and it's not one of the usual showers, could be something re- entering and breaking up.

I've seen similar to the OP in the past, a bright star moving across the sky not much faster than a satellite would, however it was much brighter and had sparks falling off it, then it just vanished.

Clearly a big lump of rock re-entering overhead and breaking up. It was very impressive!

My mate posted on Facebook they'd seen something strange in the sky, thought they were maybe just tripping!

We're in central Scotland so I'm guessing it's been visible for a large swathe of the country.

I saw it in wrexham. It seemed so slow but when it broke up it looked so close to us. I was guessing maybe bits may of landed on the mountains untill I read it was visible all over the country.
