Interesting project, but seems to have too short a timescale. Would be great if they did it, but it seems a bit quick. Be interesting how the commercial side of space flight advances now.

I think those bases are normally done to test the hydroponics, life support the stuff, as well as whether it turns people crackers, I think?

I think the "crackers" part has already been verified.
Indeed... I saw Event Horizon too.

Well, of they are going to do a big brother, it might as well make itself useful.

Day 152 in the Big Brother capsule -

Daaaave is in the hydroponics bay checking the PH levels of the recycled water in reservoir 'D'. He has to check it with a bit of paper, and compare it with chart 'c' from manual AC-13A.

Pedroooo is in the habitat section cataloging the rations, and material supplies that arrived in the most recent restocking capsule that arrived 36 hours ago. He has to use the barcode machine to register every item, and ensure it gets tagged into the inventory database, and double checked with mission control on Earth to ensure nothing is missing, or extra.

Betty is sleeping... In hotpants.

Isn't the width going to cause an issue? Why not have it narrower but two storeys?
Because it might come down like a "fking dart!" hehe I suppose with the thinner atmosphere, you need a wider section to create enough drag to slow you down enough for the drones, and chutes to be used? A thinner craft would not have that?

I am awaiting to be shot in the face by Eric for being wrong now...

Making progress - although one of the main chutes didn't seem to open as cleanly as the other two - shades of Apollo 15.
Yeah, took a while to open.

Of course. Being out of the country - or being off the planet - does not negate your obligations to HMRC.
Depends entirely on your occupation. Being at sea, (when an was in Britain), for own er 180 days of the year, was tax free.

Er, yeah... You'd have to pay taxed owed before you left. Sort of goes without saying.

(Big fan of 2001 by the way. Read it, and the rest many times. Superb stuff, particularly '01 and '10)

The chute opened properly. There aware 3 of the big buggers deployed, and one of them flapped for a lot longer than it should have, (or at least it looked longer than it should have).
