Northern lIghts in se England?
Discussion
Afternoon all
Reading the news today, apparently the Northern Lights will be visible all over the UK.
I have always wanted to take my kids (12 and 13) to see this before thry get too silky teenager-ish, but was expecting a trip up to north Scotland to do so.
Checking out this interactive light map, choices for me (near Gatwick) are pretty slim: either Leith Hill in Surrey, Ashdown forest or nip down the A23 to the south downs somewhere.
My question is before giving up a nights sleep: would I be wasting my time?
I don't expect it to be quite like "the pictures" given I think they're often taken with an open shutter, but I'll do it if it's worth doing?
(I appreciate this question will be easier to answer tomorrow morning!)
Thanks
