Yeah its the Zetec SE 1.6 engine. i got a free haynes manual but its for an S-Y reg, still its good for reference. Iv also done a bit tinkering here and there to make it my own, inc painting the calipers and the drums blue. looks sweeet!

My mates have had 2 st170s and a mk1 RS so do have alot of experience with regard to parts etc, as we used to

I have LOADS planned for this car as i want to keep it in the family, maybe even hand it over to my girlfriend eventually (maybe. ill hopefully have pics to share at some point if anyones interested.

And i would seriously recommend fitting the silver calcium battery too, the focus smart charging system in the alternator apparently boils lead calcium or any other battery.

Mines previously had lead calcium which was basically dead as the marker was at red, quick phone call to my local Ford Dealer, he was unequivocal with what the CORRECT battery type should be, silver calcium, which i got for £72 inc VAT. Not bad for a dealership

The S-Y reg manual still applies to your car, as you have one of the later though still pre facelift cars. Pre facelift S - Y had indicators in bumper, whilst the facelift has indicators in the headlamps.

My neighbour has an 02 Pre facelift, whilst another has a 51 facelift, so i wouldn't look at the age, mine should be a facelift as it's a late 2001.

Coilovers are the next thing I'm looking to get. It looks lik a 4x4 at the moment. I'm also going to doing the black eye mod, so the plastic inside the headlamps are black like the st170 headlamps.

Good to know the Haynes is correct then, saved a good tenner there. Yeah i must have the pre-facelift version as i have the indicators in bumper (which are clear) Any ideas on what to do with the original front bumper splitter as it looks terrible as it is (it doesnt come down enough and looks like it has a high chin) springs might alleviate that however.

I have the same issue with the 4x4 look too and coilover are the way forward but i just cant justify the price of them, same with the st170 angel eye headlights on ebay, jsut too expensive, so ill be after cheap springs in the meantime. A friend had Tein superstreet coilovers on his subaru sti and it felt like it was on tram lines through corners, so i know just how good they are.

Im interested to know how to do this mod for the headlights? Can you send me a link at all to help me carry it out? (i dont like the headlights as they are, looks cheap)
