I recently bought a SGS 1.5 Ton Aluminium Trolley Jack but there was oil leaking out of the safety valve. Their customer service department has not made any progress on resolving this after a week so I'll be looking for a full refund..

I’ve used my sgs jack quite a lot over 3 years and it’s been fine, I had an aluminium sealey one before it which failed after little use but it was the rocket lift type which I won’t buy again.

Exactly the same for me.

I use my jacks daily, (and buy a new 1 yearly). Never had a problem with sgs, but had 2 sealey jacks fail (in fairness 1 was just a slight lowering when in situ) on me, 1 of them being the rocket lift type.

Wouldn't use sealey again, but I suppose that would be the same if any sgs jack had failed on me.

I dont think the sgs jacks are any different to other rebranded chinese jacks though? Only seems to be a few different makers, just the rebranding.

I bought 2 arcan jacks from Costco. One is all steel red and the other one is steel aluminum hybrid. I think that they also sell them in the UK. Great jacks for the price.

I've owned the one above since about 2010 and it's been a good jack that's lifted just about everything that I own which is mostly very heavy without breaking a sweat.

I've got this one, great jack wanted to get another for a big job I had planned but they didn't have them last time I went to Costco so ended up getting https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B001SFXDM8/ref... instead which tho I've used once is good

Used a Clarke low entry aluminium race jack for years, both at circuits and in the garage, giving it heavy abuse, never let me down (ha).

Old thread I know, but I've had one of these for the past 10yrs and it's been fine. Finish has gone a bit rusty in places.

That same jack is sold at Harbor Freight in the US for $59. It's an okay jack if you don't have a heavy car. Try to lift a Mercedes Benz S class and you'll blow out the seal in no time.

Not surprising as it's only rated to 1.25 tonne.
