Some great Xmas gift ideas here. I’ll report back after she’s unwrapped it.

I assume the report back will be from beyond the grave?

I bought a Ryobi inflator about a year ago and it’s brilliant, use it for push bikes, motorcycles and cars,I already a couple of other Ryobi One tools so I just had to buy the bare body. All my stuff is mounted on the wall in the garage so it takes seconds to grab them and slot a battery in.

Do you happen to know if they are reverse-compatible with the older pre-lithium batteries?

I only use it with lithium batteries but I’m sure it would work with an older battery as long as it’s 18V

Never go practical with prezzies for the OH.
Not usually received in the same spirit they were given in my experience. hehe

Do you already own any battery tools such as a Makita drill?

If so, I’d highly recommend something like this: Makita DMP180Z 18V Li-ion LXT Inflator - Batteries and Charger Not Included https://amzn.eu/d/aA3cO9q

If you didn’t already have a battery for it then it becomes far too expensive.
Amazing piece of kit.

Did my van tyres up to 60psi with mine this week (they hold a fair bit of air!). No issues whatsoever. Mine is on a 3ah battery (I use 5s for my Grubby Man work) and does several months across quite a few cars between charges. Four van tyres from 35psi to 60 (just bought it, dealer set them low) did knock it down a bit, mind.

No more messing about trying to get it through the car because the wire isn't long enough to go round... no finding out the socket in the car doesn't work or needs the ignition on... You don't even need the keys for the car to do the tyres. It's just so easy.

One sneaky thing to watch out for is car insurance - some policies don't cover you now if you have the engine running and are using a corded compressor.

I have a policy with John Lewis at the moment (will change next year as they don't cover temporary changeovers), they state that your car is uninsured any time the engine is running without someone also sitting in the car!

It works brilliant. Can be run from the battery or you can plug it in to the 12v socket with an adapter (supplied).
I’ve got the same - picked it up in CostCo and it’s excellent

“My engine was running, scally was sat in the car. He then drove off. Am I covered or not?”

Bit of a pain when defrosting the windows, I wonder what the policy thinks about electric cars?

These are usually on sale for around £40.

Excellent investment, extremely fast and quiet.

I was at a trackday and had pumped up my own car and two others whilst the 4th person was still waiting for their emergency-kit pump to do a single tyre.

Pair it with a quick disconnect adapter and you're well sorted.

I have always considered them a budget brand since their early days of Rally Giant spotlights but I am using one of these currently and it’s holding up very well.

I haven’t needed to recharge the battery yet, but it also has a 12v connection If that ever runs out.

Down to £60. Now.

About the only thing I have seen that’s gone down.
