I was looking for a scissor lift for a while for my garage. Before I began looking I thought that they were likely to be incredibly expensive but when I was speaking with my mechanic and he said that his big lift was only £3k ish, I began to search for something that would work for me.

I am probably one of the least mechanically minded men in the world and looking online I found it really confusing about what kind of power I would need, what and how much oil, where would it go, and then there was having to have a fork lift at home for delivery!

I was recommended to a company called Auto Bench in Kent. They were brilliant, talked me through it all answered all my questions.

I ordered 3 tonne scissor lift with a maximum height of 1.1m with mechanical locking mechanism and it all runs from a normal plug socket. Including the ramp, rubber mats to help low vehicles onto the ramp, delivery, installation and VAT the total was just over £1,700 and it comes with a 3 year warranty!

It was delivered and installed yesterday and they couldn't have been more helpful. The only issue that I faced was that when you pressed the button it tripped the garage breaker which was on my main board in the house.

Replaced the old breaker for a 50amp category C breaker this morning at a cost of a couple of quid and hey presto!

To get the mechanical locking mechanism to work I do need a compressor so I have ordered one of those today! Very pleased with it

Apologies for thread necro, but what are those rubber looking tiles you've used presumably to gain ground clearance over the ramp. I'm finalising my garage plans, only thing I'm missing is a good option for ground clearance over the ramp I've chosen. Scaffold boards are currently leading the charge, but wouldn't mind something a bit lighter weight/easier to store.

An old thread, just wondering if Piersman 2 has a picture of the bike on the lift.
I've used mine to lift bikes but not up on stands at the same time.

Hi. Just seen this. No I haven't got a photo, but all I've done is buy a full 8ft board from Wickes, which I then screw attach with my two wooden ramps sections to form a stiff platform on top of the lift. Solid enough to support the bike weight and big enough to use the paddock stands as well.

Actually I've just gone and taken a quick pic to show, obviously there's no bike on it just now, it's in 'workbench' mode! smile

GEG 3T scissor lift here - same as the red one with the Clio on above but painted ninja green (I guess they all come from the same factory in asia). A set of raceramps means low cars roll on no problems:

I'm also thinking of a scissor lift, but it has to lift my 4t motorhome so I'm looking at full-length alignment lifts, and at sinking it into my driveway. Anyone fitted one of these at home?
