Shock and Awe penetrant fluid from Halfords
Discussion
Guys,
I picked a can of this off the shelf from Halfords t'other week http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/...
and I must say it's been very impressive indeed.
I don't know whether it's coincidence that everything i've used this on so far has come off, but I'm now starting to suspect that it might actually be the product. Amongst other things I've used it on corroded damper top mounts, and i've just used it to remove a broken fastener that was well corroded.
Thus far I'm very impressed.
(I haven't posted this in Technical as there are three seperate forums there, but mods if you feel this topic would be better there then please do move it).

Most of the time it makes no difference, nothing like a bit of placebo
That's emphatically not the case at all.The cars i'm working on have more torx and ribe fasteners than anything else, and these type of fasteners are not great if you need a good purchase. The head of the ribe screw i managed to free off yesterday had already been sheared off by AN Other, and was on a car that had come from the Essex coast and was/is showing more corrosion underneath than any other car of it's age that I think I've ever seen.
