So hands up. I like to think I'm an 'OK' DIY mechanic. My Wife's car, a grands worth of Citroen C5 2.2 Diesel.

Bought this in September as a quick stop gap. The car has been great, and She has done 20k since we bought it. I did an Oil/Filter change on queue not long after She had it, then the 12500k service light popped up again. I did the Oil/Filter .. no problem, then tackled the Fuel filter.

To cut a long story short, the filter housing is a pain, took all of the hoses off, via the push in Citroen clips, new filter in, pipes pushed back in (!)

Drove 20 miles, no problem, drove home .... heavy smell of diesel, put my foot down on the M! .... no power, lots of error messages, rapidly followed by a big Stop light/no power and a Hard Shoulder sortie !

So like a tt, I hadn't refitted the pipes properly. I put them back on, all started fine, I have an EML on, which I expect to go in a few ignition cycles (neither of my scanners work on the C5).

I also have a car coated in diesel, I have also probably lost about £30 of fuel along the way, and have a really guilty complex of any Bikers travelling between Watford & Toddington this evening !
