I'd imagine that RHD UK trucks running in Europe have far less accidents percentage wise than the EU trucks running in the UK.
It's just bad driving. Full stop.

If you can't see then don't move until you're sure it's clear.
What do you mean 'if you can't see'?

I just treat the area next to any truck as a moving box junction. If I can't get through the box in one quick smooth movement I don't enter it.

There's not many things as un-nerving as being "stuck" next to a lorry on a motorway, so I do all I can to avoid it.

Not sure you can use that as a comparison

There must be more LHDs in relation to the number of RHDs over here than RHDs to LHDs elsewhere
Yes. That's why I said as a percentage, or pro rata.

Are there figures to show that point?

Dunno, that's why I said "I'd imagine".
Did you actually read my post? smile

I know a big EU haulier (UK but based in Belguim) and he said its not an issue with his drivers and couldn't understand why all the EU LHD trucks over here are so incompetent. He has a 50/50 mix of LHD and RHD.

wish everybody had this insight into our problem , it doesnt seem such a problem abroad .

i have driven rhd and lhd drive and it is deff worse with a lhd in uk than rhd in euroland , i think the biggest problem is our roads seem more crowded

Ah, I see, you don't drive trucks yourself. This explains why you're talking bks.

In fairness to him, the simple act of passing will be enough to give the experience that most cor only driving critics here lack.

Yes.

It was only "a long time ago" if you're young FFS!

ETA: I not sure why you lot are getting upset. I was saying that UK truckers are better drivers than EU truckers.
Would it help if I drawded pictures?

It was a relevant question tbh.
Stating dont move until you know its clear is all well and good but there is always some pillock on the uk roads sneaking into blind spots. Then there is the people who either dont see the indicators flashing on the truck and dawdle down the blind spot or think fk you,you aint moving out.Its no surprise some drivers esp the left hookers fail to spot them.Driving attitudes on uk roads are terrible.

I asked about the licence to see if you still drive hgv on the roads today,no idea why you brought pics into it.
1997 remains a long time ago because it is,I passed mine in 96 and I know that was a long long time ago lol.
