Quick question for those who might know,

What license(s) would a driver to operate a machine such as this?

Terex AC1000 or it's bigger road going models.

Not that long ago these things could be driven on a car licence, but the rules were changed that you require a class 2 licence to drive them
Bloody hell... that's enough to give someone like me (only a car license) nightmares!

I think some of the larger ones have a headroom just a couple of inches under the top of most EU bridges and the swings front and back... shudder.

A question for you P&M...

how do the very cranes keep enough cable on board for the very large sheaving operations? Take your picture for example, if you needed to drop that cylinder down 100m below ground... presumably the cables are on twin drums. Can you add more cable to the drums dynamically, or is the max vertical lift height of one of these cranes limited to boom height and lufing jibs?

Yep: thanks smile

700m, so plenty then. The torques involved in lifting a full drum on a superlift must be very substantial. The mechanics involved in mobile cranes is eye-watering.
