I used to drive a 7.5t Beavertail, in the late eighties and early nineties, as a Student summer job (absolutely great driving all over the country as a 19 year old).

Fast forward a few years, and I've just bought a Transit 350 Single Car Transporter for use in my Van sales / workshop business and I've noticed a couple of things:

Back in the day, us fellow Recovery drivers used to give each other a wave or a flash of the headlights. I tried it the other day, and got a puzzled looks from the other drivers!

Also, I've noticed that I almost never get a flash of the lights from lorry drivers to pull in to lane 1 from lane 2. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that I get flashed in even more when I'm towing a trailer behind my 4x4.

Is it just Corporate Britain meaning that drivers are no longer allowed to be friendly, or are recovery drivers no longer seen as knights of the road, more like "Scrap Cars wanted for cash" blokes?

Off topic, is that going to be enough of a max weight with a transit for what you want it for?
I retail a lot of smaller vans - Connect, Caddy, Astra and the like, so it's perfect in that respect. I've had a SWB transit on it, but that's probably at the top end, payload wise. It has a lightweight body too.

With regard to flashing, I guess times have changed, so I'll just fall in line and try to look less "rapey" smile
