Well, we took the plunge and bought the big Cadac (can’t remember what it’s called) on line today so looking forward to it arriving in a couple of days’ time. Unfortunately won’t be able to use it yet as the gas bottles are in the motorhome which is in storage a couple of miles away, however we’re very much looking forward to giving it a thorough testing when we take the motorhome to France in early August.

Don't forget to get gas pipe and connector as they don't come with one!

And getting an external gas point fitted saves faffing around with bottles etc.

No need for that. The gas bottle storage in the motorhome is on the awning and has door side of the van and behind a lift up door. All that will be needed is to open the door and attach the pipe.

Also we always carry two bottles (one stats permanently connected to the van’s internal gas supply) so we’ve always got a full spare in case one runs out. I think each bottle lasts about 18 months so we’re unlikely to run out having one bottle connected to the van and the other to the Cadac.

I'm another Weber evangelist. I've got a Go Anywhere which is great for when it's just the two of us wanting something simple, but also a (well, two actually) Jumbo Joe with the Cajun Bandit smoker conversion kit and rotisserie kit. That basically allows me to cook anything, and to cater for a larger group.

The only two downsides to the Jumbo Joe are that they're now discontinued in the UK so you'll need to import one from the US, and there's nowhere to store one in an Eriba 'van so it goes in the boot of the car.

Instead my wife bought me a portable firepit BBQ. Off this weekend to test it out.
It worked really well, used the Lidl charcoal chimney to light the charcoal, cooked on it every day including a Paella. Now looking at a pizza stone but then I need a lid, wonder if one can get one!

We carry a Cobb oven in the California. Brilliant bit of kit which saw a lot of use this weekend!

First proper use of the Cadac this weekend in Bude. So pleased we went ahead and got one, it’s going to get plenty of use in France in August.

Another Cadac recommendation here, don't forget a pizza stone too we love ours, ours has been relocated from caravan to decking, love having weekend breakfasts using it too as well as evening meals in this lovely weather.

Well worth the money.

Go outdoors price match too -10% if you find it cheaper anywhere else.

We love our Cadac. We use it for breakfasts and evening meals. The roasting pan is brilliant, as it cooks a whole chicken and the veg at the same time. We prefer the braai pan for breakfasts as you can cook sausages and bacon on the griddle and eggs and pancakes on the flat half. Paella or curry are easy as well. Wish I had two, one for holidays and one for home.

Haha - ours in the motorhome with the fitting that connects the pipe to the Cadac firmly attached via a pipe to the van’s gas bottle so all we have to do is connect it to the Cadac and turn on the gas - saves keeping on connecting and disconnecting the pipe. The upshot is, like you, we’re wishing we had a second one to keep at home too, especially with the weather we’re enjoying at the moment.

As for the various pans, we used the grill one when we first tried it at home but doing a fry up for breakfast and a steak for tea it wasn’t necessary to use anything other than the paella pan, which had the added bonus of being very easy to clean. Love it!

I have loads of BBQs but if I want something portable, quick to light and easy to use I get the Lotus Grill out every time. Dismantling it and sticking it all in the dishwasher is a bonus too.

If anyone wants one I just ordered a Weber Go Anywhere from Riverside Garden Centre with an offer of a free chimney starter so saved myself £15. Lovely jubbly smile

So that's part 1 of my caravan cooking sorted, saving for the Cadac.

Just purchased the Cadac Carri 2, nice quality item & very well thought out.

I'm very pleased with it certainly makes my old but seldom used Beauclaire seem like a right piece of junk.

I will further add the non stick they use on the Cadac accesories is the best non stick I've ever come across, a simple wipe with a bit of kitchen roll after use & its immaculate again, no scrubbing required!

Thread resurrection alert...

Took the plunge on a Cadac Carri Chef 2 before our Easter break, it came with the paella pan but I also ordered the Grill 2 Braai plate. What an utterly brilliant thing, as well as the standard BBQ did a stir fry one night, spaghetti and meatballs another, and a morning fry up. Well pleased with it, sure it will see lots of use of the coming years.
