So when do the PH campers think sites will reopen?
Discussion
Well we were supposed to be going to France and Germany this late July for nearly 3 weeks. That looks like it's off. I don't really want to give up the opportunity of a holiday though so I went to the CAMC and C&C site expecting to find limited availability however was amazed that most places and dates were still available for the summer.
Do we reckon that a lot of the target audience have pulled their reservations? I know a lot of oldies use these clubs and may be wary of venturing out but equally a lot of families would be going at this time with school hols.

I don’t think anywhere is open or even opening until July 4th at the earliest. I’ve hedged my bets and booked 2 long weekends in July at our favourite sites about 20 minutes away. Both sites said they’d take bookings from July 4th, subject to actually being allowed to open and if not deposits can be returned or transferred.
Walked past a Dutch campsite last week and there were quite a few caravans and camper vans there, but only 1 tent, pitched quite close to a small toilet block. I believe shared toilet facilities aren't allowed to be open so I guess they can allow one tented family per toilet block and everyone else has to bring their own loo.
Re the campervan market, I wonder if we'll see people buying them, and then in a year or so deciding it's not for them and a lot more second hand ones on the market?

That's the Caravan & Motorhome Club, I'm a member of the Camping & Caravanning Club, hopefully they will be updating soon along similar lines.
Side note: the two rival organisations always make me chuckle in a People's Front of Judea/Judean People's Front way ... SPLITTERS!!!

Haha, I've never looked at it like that before, but I don't think I'll ever be able to not think of that sketch now. That's the Caravan & Motorhome Club, I'm a member of the Camping & Caravanning Club, hopefully they will be updating soon along similar lines.

Irony being that 10yrs ago we'd have all been mocking caravanners/motorhomers for holding us up on ride outs!!

Wish I had spotted this thread before. I have family who run an independent (as in not C+C or C+M Clubs, love that comparison by the way) in Holt (Dorset) and they are planning to reopen on or around the same date.
Dapplewood or Gundry's Farm? We stayed at the latter in 2018, very nice place, am keen to return. PurpleTurtle said:

amongst my motorbiking mates we have all in the last five years bought either campervans (the young and child free), motorhomes (retirees) and caravans (working with young kids). Some of us are C&MC, some of us are C&CC. Much mirth about the PFJ vs JPF over a few beers!!

So true, gone are the 2 seater silly sports cars and now the proud owner of a middle aged grey camper van and a wobble box Irony being that 10yrs ago we'd have all been mocking caravanners/motorhomers for holding us up on ride outs!!
