We had a UK campsite booked towards the end of July and they've just confirmed they won't be opening this year for tents, only caravans and campavans that are totally self sufficient (washing and toilet). They will offer no facilities on site other than water.

Will be gutted if this becomes the norm this year.

We were booked in from the 1st July with the CMC, had an email request to modify our booking starting the 4th, the shower block will be open but with restrictions ,I am ok about using the facilities, everyone will be wiping everything down when they use them, the virus won't have a chance, hehe
It's a good job really because I keep looking at the cassette and thinking that's never going to work for my number 2s, I can regularly block a standard toilet, there is no way it's coming out of that drain pipe with out dynamite and sulfuric acid being involved. hehe

Edit to add
The roads will be packed with caravans on the 4th and the queue to get in at 12 at the sites will be huge, it's going to be fun.....

I am right on the zone now to start booking sites for our Jan-Mar trip down to Spain. As I sit here today though I can't honestly say whether we will be able to go or not. My wife is on the vulnerable list plus who knows if we will get a second wave of the virus.

I think I'll probably have to contact the sites and see what their views are especially regarding deposits/refunds etc.

The problem comes if it is declared generally safe to travel but we don't think it is safe for certain folk to travel (like Mrs O).

That's one of the reasons I'm thinking of leaving it a few weeks before we go away anywhere. Looking at Scotland for a couple of weeks, but might leave that until September . . . are midges a problem then ?

I was wondering the same, along if there could be problems with travel insurance,
I do think sites will be flexible with bookings given the situation.

Just booked a weeks camping in August at a nice place in dorset. They do plan to have showers and toilets open but plans might change. I'm happier to have a space reserved now at least. Might look into a porta-potty and toilet tent as well!

Just booked my first post lockdown camping trip. It's actually work related but in Wallingford - so a nice location.

Next visit looks like it will be The New Forest.

We've just booked 10 nights at our usual independent place in the New Forest for August (they are pretty much booked up for the whole month already), they are going to be operating at 70% of normal capacity due to increased pitch spacing.

Looking forward to it. There is lots of open Forest space for walking and cycling in the forest, will be good to be out in the fresh air.

Check the mot online database and make sure yours hasn’t automatically been extended! That is no excuse though for it not being roadworthy!

Worth a try, no such luck.

Currently up at our seasonal pitch on a private site in the Dales. All seems well, the owners have taken care to make sure the facilities are as safe as they can be. Site is probably three quarters full. I know they had a few cancellations so we’re probably fully booked.

Whats the situation in Scotland now? Sites allowed to open?

I'm off to Skye at the end of the week and will be kayaking up the west coast and wild camping, but was thinking of dropping into Glenbrittle campsite for a night on the way up, for a hot shower and fresh water fill-up.

I've tried ringing them a couple of times but no one picks up.

We always book sites in the New Forest through the "camping in the forest site" but our week has been cancelled even though it was a no facility site !

I have been on the Cirencester caravan &moterhome club site since the 4th, the journey down was great, had visions of the journey from hell's with everyone on the roads, we had to give the site a time of arrival, they were booking in a fixed number ever hour, it has taken us up to 9hrs in the past but it only took 5 and a half hours, we ended up waiting in a lay by till our allotted time.
On the site things run pretty smoothly, they have a wrist band system for the toilets and showers, you hang your band on one of 4 hooks outside the entrance, it was 5 but one hook has been removed for some reason, only on the mens, only had to wait a few times, think most people are using their own facilities .
Sat here in the caravan listening to the rain bouncing of the roof, living the dream. hehe
