A few weeks ago our Fiamma Zip awning started to jam and steadily got worse, not closing properly. I tried to adjust it as per the online instructions without any luck and now a local motorhome dealer has told me that its not working and will need replacing to the tune of about £1400! we have the safari room which tacks on as well but clearly not happy about this cost.

Has anyone else had this issue and do you know of anyone capable of repairing them? Im reluctant to scrap the awning on the basis that most of it including the fabric is in great nick as its only 4 years old!

Any advice to a cheaper fix appreciated. For now i'll remove it leaving the bracket and think about spending the money in the spring.

Thanks,

Bill

I'd have a word with a sailmaker as they might be able to replace the zip rather than the whole awning.

Thinking about it I've used this lot for some awning bits: http://www.kingswoodcanvas.co.uk/

Hi Bill. Hope you're well mate

Zip is a reference to the model of fiamma awning.

The fault lies I think with the mountings and/or the joisty springy things

I couldnt say whether thats fixable but £1400 seems way steep for any Fiamma even a Zip one.

The price of an F45 Zip canopy only compared to a normal F45 is only about £70 and the most we charge even for a big 4.5m standard F45 is comfortably under £1000.

On the fixing side we do end up replacing rather than repairing a lot of awnings so it may be bad news on that front.

I think that the people with the van must have quoted for the safari room as well. Ive managed to find a 3.5m Zip canopy for £450 delivered, so I think we will have to go for that. bugger.
