Evening all, working on getting myself set up with a light camping setup. I have some heavier gear and larger tent for when I’m pitching up by the car but now working on a more simplistic setup for some backpacking. Been to a go outdoors today and had a look at a jackal ii. Seems like a quality tent and exactly what I’m looking for really. Anyone got any first hand experience of this tent or any better alternatives for around the same money? It’s only for myself but I want a reasonable bit of space as I’m not a small bloke and don’t want to be crammed in. Thanks everyone.
Also what’s the craic with these self inflating sleeping mats? Had a look at some today and seem like something that would be a good piece of kit, don’t want to spend a fortune but happy to spend a bit for something that will last and be comfortable.

I suppose it means camping somewhere where there are trees, but the Amok Draumr looks amazing. My mate does a load of wild camps, he's had an Amok Segl for years, absolutely loves it. And I can see why tbh. The hammock n tarp pack down so small and weigh so little, you're off the ground and so is your kit...
Apologies if I'm trying to teach my granny to suck eggs here, obviously tents have their place too, I love my North Face 25, still going strong after about 30 years

That's not very light for a lightweight tent!
ETA to be more helpful: This is 1.25kg lighter: https://www.tiso.com/eatnz7ti0197/vango-cairngorm-...

I have the Jackal II tent - bought from Go Outdoors as well.
It’s quite heavy in a backpack and doesn’t pack down very small. If I knew that at the time I wouldn’t have bought it.
That’s not a problem with the tent per se - it’s great for car-based trips - just awkward for backpacking.
