Hey

Looking for recommendations for a cheap tent, going camping in a couple of weeks, dug my tent out of my folks attic to find something heavy has been put on it and all the poles have broken.

Only need room for 1 person, as water tight as possible as I camp in Scotland. Trying to avoid spending over £50 which I know puts me at a lot of compromises as I am looking for something a little 'more' that a flimsy festival pop-up.

Oo, there is a Decathalon about 15 minutes away from me, might be worth checking out but the collection on their website looks pretty pants.

Currently looking at a Vango Talas 200, can pick it up on Amazon primeday sale for just under £30, looks a reasonable size from a good brand, 3000mm waterproofing (which is good? Decathalon one only says 200mm) with a flysheet. Anoyingly it appears to be a rather new model so there are bugger all reviews about for it, I don't know the first thing about tents so I am trying to figure out why it is so cheap compared to their, very similar looking, £120 hiking tents.

EDIT: Talas looks identical to the Soul mentioned earlier, is it possible the Talas is a new model of it as it is has a slightly higher waterproof rating, available for broadly the same price.

Job jobbed

Vango Talas 200 ordered, got it for £28 in the prime day sale. Can't really go far wrong at that price as it seemed to tick all the boxes of being cheap but somewhat capable of standing up to wind/rain. It looks basically the same as the Soul 200 but with 3000mm waterproofing instead of 2000mm so it is possible it is a newer iteration of it. I'll just mind to be careful with the poles putting it up as that seems to be the only complaint in reviews that they can be a bit brittle. Although based on its small size I reckon it'll fit in my kayak, which is an added bonus (my old tent, an ancient handmedown 4 man dome tent, never did)

Think ill spend the remainder of my budget on a new camping matress & pillow, I have been using my current foam ones whilst working under my car so they are bit grubby biggrin.
