I will suggest the author Robert Crais, he writes very good and easy to read crime novels with a good main character and plenty of action. Well worth a read
Sorry to drag up an old thread, but working my way through the Elvis Cole & Joe Pike books - very good indeed. Harlan Coben is another easy read favourite of mine. The Myron Bolitar series.

Frederick Forsyth
I've tried one of his and it was hard going and given the one I read if not touch another BUT what would you recommend to start within his huge list of books? That said, I've enjoyed most of them. Try the Devil's Alternative or the Fourth Protocol.

Agree Forsyth can be hard work sometimes but overall I like.
For my easy thriller reads:
Dick Francis
Clive Cussler
Jack Higgins.
Another vote here for Clive Cussler's "Dirk Pitt" series. Very similar to Jack Reacher and just as easy to read. For my easy thriller reads:

Rainbow Six is pretty good, but not as good as "Without Remorse"
As mentioned on the other thread, watch these, exactly the same story.

There's a new Reacher book out next month
I bought some Barry Eisler for my holiday (All the Rain Parts 1 & 2) Each part consists of 3 novels (I thought I got his name from this thread but can't find it). I am midway through novel 4 (Part 2 book 2) and can throughly recommend them - Excellent writing and some savage humour (and fighting!). Written in the first person which One isn't particularly keen on but the books have been so good that was soon forgotten!

Just remembered another, Michael Marshall Smith (not the sci if books he wrote - although they're good too) or Richard Morgan, again sci if biased but his Kovacs character is up there with Reacher IMHO
I have read both. The Morgan books are infinitely superior to Child's and Kovacs would eat Reacher for breakfast! northwest monkey said:

Not Dirk Pitt series - "NUMA files" called White Death. Plot full of holes and very predictable with a silly evil plot like a silly 80s James Bond movie.
Mindless fun but won't try him again
