I keep hearing that word and don't know what you people mean.

I tried a search but just ended up learning about flat bottomed boats.

Would someone explain please?

Cheers

What would be called an executive saloon

In other words any large 4 door car.

The barge thread might give some you some clues smile

Although a lot of the original links won't work now - you'd need to go to the recent pages to view 'current' ads, etc.

A Barge is a large ish vehicle with a fairly sizable engine that just wafts along. comfy floaty suspension that when cornering resembles being on a boat.

Or atleast thats my understanding of it.

A big, reasonably heavy 4-door saloon that's designed to eat motorway miles in comfort, rather than to be particularly 'sporty'.

This is mine:

Barges are the way forward. thumbup

I've owned lots of different cars (and had lots more as company demo's) but the E32 is one of the best cars i've ever parked my rear end into.

15.4mpg - you aren't trying wink
Many year ago I ran a XJ12, on Stromgerbs, even when running on all 12 it wouldn't get into double figures. But it was a lovely car and not exactly slow!

Blimey, my V8 Rangie will do 15mpg, LHD your 7 is 'only' a 3.5 isn't it?

I thought you'd see mid 20's from that.

Oh, and the first few barge definitions were correct thumbup

Comfy, large, big engine, luxurious and generally lovely old things!

The first time I came across this term was in the 60s, when the works Abingdon rally cars were supported by Autin Princess estate cars (I think), referred to as service barges.

Yes, it's only a 3.5 but 90% of my driving is in town.

It's awesome.

You should have bought it when you had the chance!hehe
