PHer with a Mclaren F1 (it's for real this time)
Discussion
True, certainly makes it less obvious than if it was bright orange, although I spotted it from about 10 cars back on the motorway and there were quite a few people jostling for position in the queue down the Marlow bypass so if he chose the colour to blend in then it didnt work that well
I'm not even going to bother joining the queue for a passenger ride, even though it's my favourite car, ever. Can understand why the guy is so nervous about posting after the whole Dokic thing, and the fact that we're giving him this much attention. As has been said, lets just put aside the fact that he owns the fastest, most beautiful and best sounding car ever made, and treat him as normal member
I 'fink the F1 is a kit car with a decent (German) engine and some expensive anodised bits.
It's poorly packaged, ugly and doesn't handle at speed.
I find the driving position a bit odd, the A pillars block your view on roundabouts and reverse gear is a sod.
Ain't that right Flemke?

so is it a LHD or RHD then?
Good 'un Lance!
I missed that the first time around!
I want to hear a little write up on the car from a real owner not a dodgey journo who drives it for all of 5 mins.
I can imagine filling up at the petrol station must take a while due to the amount of questions you have to answer apon arrival.
Actually, I do have one question I'd love to ask. Running costs? All the mags naturally quote the highest prices for servicing and running costs (has to go back to Maclaren for everything blah, blah, blah). What are the real life, real owner running costs like? Insurance too if you don't mind me asking(obviously varies hugely)?
Cheers
MARA
P.S The good thing about having two passenger seats is that it will take you half the time it would in every other supercar to take every PHer for a spin

Could be Rowan Atkinson. Not sure he would have a Porsche though.

Flemke seemed like a very nice chap to me and a real petrolhead.
Sounds good but the way people will react to him now because he has a McF1 is probably going to be cringeworthy...
Hopefully when / if he starts posting, people will eventually look past the fact he has one of the most sought after cars ever built and treat him same as anyone else here - Just think there may be a few starstruck members posting to him on the basis of his motor - I could be wrong of course (it's happened more than once )
Just so long as he can talk proper like. Not like deristricter; i can never understand a word he is on about.....Jest
gosh how embarassing!, 5 posts as i was making my way through this thread and not a single break.
well, now i have finished it i have one or 2 questions if i may.
Firstly manners.
Hello and welcome.
5 years is a long time to come out of the closet for any lurker so i am guessing you have better things to do with your time than scan our pages, but it would be wonderfull for me to see what a person of such obviouse means makes of our discussions.
No disrespect but if i could buy any car i doubt a F1 would even cross my mind so why the F1?
A lifelong dream?
A whim? ( forgive me, probably not with your suggested driving passion )
A quest for speed
The ultimate
Just curiouse you see i am a simple man and even given means beyond my end ( sorry but money sounds too vulgar) i would not spend more than 100 grand on a car.
The other question was more of a statement really with 5 years of membership ( or there abouts ) i would have thought more than enough time to prove your, whats the word?(I AM SOOO THICK SOMETIMES) legitimasy?; i don't know. Anyway why now?
Hope to read some of your posts soon mate.....cough, Mr?
Anyway cheers, i am drinking ponche tonight!. This heat reminds me of Spain.
Best, bilko

It's <a href="http://www.pistonheads.com/members/showprofile.asp?name=flemke" target="_self">flemke</a>
Most fantastic car but dullest profile.
Then again if I had one I doubt Id find time to go on the net either!
Welcome to PH flemke
A word of warning. Its very addictive here.
I have to get up in 6 hours to go to Griff Growl and Im still on 'ere!
There is a big PH meet at Virginia Waters on Thursday for a visiting American member. Its the first evening meet but a typical Sunday meet usually brings in 150-200 of the finest Sportscars (and a few Chims too! )

Personally I think it would be appropriate for McNab got to have a go in the F1 - his thoughts, given his glorious racing pedigree, and god-like status on PH, would I'm sure make for interesting reading.
Singularly qualified to deliver an excellent opinion. Actually, I was thinking he might be the owner in question, he seems to have had everything else!
