How about affordable sportscars?

TVR 'S' against Lotus Elan both readily available for £7.5k, both with plus and negative points in different aspects and entirely different in concept

Or line up all Golf GTis - MKI-V, to find out which is best, most well made, most practical, fastest and so on.

You'll be needing a Chevy Corvette if you're looking for icons. The C5 can be put up against just about any modern road car that is sold world-wide. If you were looking for a USA car with comparable heritage then I guess Ford Mustang would be the obvious choice. Plenty of contacts available on PH.

A chevy??? So long as there are no curves on the track!

I'm tempted to offer my services just to check out my second assertion. But my cars are not iconic enough. Maybe they could do a back-to-back of ironic cars instead...

Sierra Cosworth (or RS500)

So that's three votes for the Quattro... better do it on dry roads to give the other, lesser marques a fair crack of the whip...

I'd suggest pitting my 94 NSX against a 911, Esprit S4, or Ferrari 348. Bargain supercar? I'll say....

You'll be needing a Corvette ZR1 to complete the set.
