Sounds unlikely to me.........I don't live in Birmingham but I can't remember the last time I saw a 3-dr Cossie on the road.

Did a bit of research. They only made 56 RS500s in White. Why would you nick a car that hilariously rare???

That said, i remember the last time I saw a 3 door cossie, every day back in Winchester (The Bloke down the road had a "Regular" white 3 door!).

Feel free to remove the thread if you wish, but I can assure you I am not selling anything (Why would i try and sell anything Ford related on Pistonheads? Please, use your intelligence!), just trying to help out someone who has had his pride and joy stolen, as i'm sure you would like others to do for you if you had such a rare car stolen.

More information on the stolen car can be found here: www.reyland.co.uk/stolen.htm

The owner assured me he had very expensive security fitted to the car, but it would seem no tracking device.

I will remove the first post information, as reading it again does seem to read like an advert. I was just trying to stress the difference of the car in question from any other white cosworth.

Guys, how about being a little less suspicious. This thread reads like a right bunch of whingers. Let me worry about whether someone is advertising or not and let's concentrate on cars eh?

Not much of a welcome to a fellow enthusiast is it?

Reading my post again it looks like i'm saying that too. I'm not!! I am just saying that the car would be stupid for a Bank Robbery or the like.

Apparently the stolen car was spotted on the Spalding bypass (local to where it was stolen from I have been told) under an hour ago doing rediculous speeds by someone who saw the advert posted on a forum! They reported it to the police as soon as they could, who are now keeping an eye out. So thats very good news and proof that a post like this can work!

Phil, I'm thinking about buying a Sapphire 4x4. Have you any information that might assist me in the purchase? Apparantly it has had work carried out by Castle but I want to know what I should be aksing the guy before I phone him as it's a private sale and I don't want to waste my time, nor the time of the Seller. Cheers.

Hi, in referance to buying the Sapphire you want to be asking the usual questions on its history, ensure it has all the original panels and paint preferably, check if the car has any rust and try to find out how much the previous owner "cared" for the car (i.e. Servicing, undersealing, even down to things like tyres as cheap tyres are a good sign of neglected funds)

Check that the specification of the wrok carried by castle out matches the claimed power output of the car and the work is fully documented in the history (There is a reasonable guide to modifications needed for certain power outputs on the Castle performance website) As when I was looking for a car someone tried to sell me a car they claimed had 470bhp when it was infact largely standard.

If it is a 4x4 make sure it has all the original leather interior and whatnot and just dont pay over the odds.

On the plus side if you crash it, its worth more in parts anyway!

It may also be well worth your time doing a search on a couple of Ford forums for a Cosworth buying guide as there have been many topics on the subject from people far more knowledgeable than myself! (Try www.passionford.com and www.rsownersclub.co.uk)

So in summary, check the usual things (ask if it has any knocks, bangs fromt he suspension, the gearbox should be fairly quiet, and ask if the engine has any knocks etc)
