'viper larry' is mixing it with 'goodlife' on tuesday at Bruntingthorpe, Viper GTS v Noble GTO 3R

Tuscan S was supposed to be the contender for the Noble
but for some reason, they couldnt get one. They are filming some other cars the same day

A Cerb and Tusc already spring to mind if anyone wants to do it

Similar age, similar ability no doubt - both driven similar cars (never driven a Tuscan though). Im up for it, representing the Cerbera of course - all we need now is a clear runway...

Elan versus MX-5 (Comparable on track from experience)

Got an MX-5 & one very entusiatic driver who'd be more than happy to show what it'll do on the track.

I'm sure someone here will have it design sake the Lotus Elan. If not I know someone at Lotus who can get hold of one.

Would be great to see the two compared side by side modern versus old etc.

Also

80's Turbo 4x4's versus the modern day versions

Lancia Intergrale, Audi Quattro Turbo, Mazda 323 Turbo 4x4 (got one of these too!)

Versus

New Age Impreza Turbo & Mitsubishi Evo

Am available too....the joys of self employment

Here's the pairing I want to see:

E30 M3 vs Mx5, both straightline and round a twisty circuit. Or indeed on my local "circuit", 40 odd miles of twisties...

Err I think the beemer will win that hands down, or is its pants down. MX-5's are NOT FAST just fun, they just make you feel like your going fast.

Honest as I've got a 5 & something here that does keep up with beemers on the twisty's & its heaps load quicker than a 5.

I knew this would happen so here's my reasoning. The 320i has the following probs:

1. Lack of power - Not a problem in an M3
2. Slow Steering - Faster rack in a M3
3. Heavy nose - Not a problem in an M3 as its got the 4-pot

1st time I got into a Mx5, took on the local "circuit" and was taking it round bends at silly speeds. I also immediately realised problems 2 and 3 didn't exist in the 5. Needs more power but not a bad machine. I would never dispute that the E30 M3 is an amazing machine (I'd do almost anything to get one) but I would like to see just how much of a beating it really could give an mx5.

I know a 5 is a fun rather than fast car but on the right roads they can punch well above their weight.

One thing to add. I think the speed a 5 can go at is directly related to the speed of the music that its playing. Very hard techno speeds them up a lot. dunno why

[quote=PetrolTed]I've spoken to Laura from the production company and they'd particularly like to work with anyone who's got an Aston Martin DB5, a Maserati from the same period, a
Ford Mustang against an early Ford Capri, an AC Cobra, a Lamborghini, a TVR, a Ferrari... etc.

id like to see my IS200 against a BMW 320 CI and a MERC C-Class 200

all I know they did a days filming at Bruntingthorpe
with camera's in the cars and from a van, then today in a studio under lights with a audience, with 5 judges on a panel and Penny Mallory interviewing the guys (wasnt there myself)

Nearly right - Tuesday involved a day of filming at Bruntingthorpe driving round teh track, in car shots, static shots, 180mph down the straight, etc.

Today was a studio setting at the Classic Car Club in Shoreditch, London with Penny Mallory presenting and a panel of 3 car experts debating the merits and downfalls of each car. At the end of the shoot, they chose which car they thought was Top Dog between the two.

Series starts on Men & Motors channel 17th March - look out for the Viper then

You'll be needing a Chevy Corvette if you're looking for icons. The C5 can be put up against just about any modern road car that is sold world-wide. If you were looking for a USA car with comparable heritage then I guess Ford Mustang would be the obvious choice. Plenty of contacts available on PH.

Better make sure there are no bends on that there dragstrip.

P.S. where the hell would you find an original Cobra willing to risk it on the track. Its cheating with a kit cos it would walk past everything.
Kits are just what you want them to be, possibly race spec everything and a tidy 600bhp under the bonnet nothing would stand a chance.
