Well there's a surprise, at least that it took so long to issue press release.

I appears I have. Best to delete the thread.

It's been a bad month for me and it looks as if 2016 is going to start just as bad.

I've just read that Renault bought the team for £1. That's not a typo.

Obviously that's realistically not how much Lotus will actually cost Renault (debts of £98m), but it's amusing/alarming just how desperate the previous owners were to get rid of it. Maldonado must've been reaching into his own pockets every time Grosjean's payday came around. Despite the takeover, i still think jumping ship was the best thing for Romain; get out while Renault find their feet and perhaps come back when there's a stable setup.

I will never understand how or why idiot dreamers buy an F1 team they have absolutely no way to fund.

Renault/Lotus have been an unmitigated disaster the say GenII 'brought' it.

Which is exactly why i am suspicious of Haas. There have been numerous interviews with Gene(?) Haas over 2015 and he often mentions how he'd like to use F1 as a marketing platform for his US businesses. The same mistake Genii, Spyker and Virgin (to an extent) made. You'll lose a lot more money than generate by putting it into an F1 team (unless you perform a miracle and manage to be midfield and reliable in year 1). Obviously it helps that Haas has Ferrari backing but if at any point it becomes clear that he's not intending to invest enough money to stay afloat, Ferrari will pull the carpet from under him and "For Sale" signs will appear on the factory.
If marketing is his core goal then becoming title sponsor of Ferrari would've been the more astute decision.

laugh That doesn't help their cause for me. Lack of focus required, limited budget for F1 operation, unprepared for the pirahnas, etc. F1 is not "one big family" as Paul Stoddart once said, it's a swimming pool with sharks in it.

Thanks for that. It is reciprocated.

From a purely personal point of view it has been tremendous. I've had constant lower back pain for some years, probably 6 or so where it is always there, 10 or more for the occasional stab. It is not so bad as to keep me awake, at least not more than once or twice a month, but it is, or rather was, a constant niggle. I could get fed up with it, as you can imagine.

I had gone to the doctor on another matter, a blood test I'd had he wanted to discuss, and mentioned the LBP. He put a few questions and then asked if I'd be willing to try something rather unusual. I told him I'd paid a chiropractor £450 to make the problem worse, so he gave me a script. That was 14 Dec. In the literature it said that it might take 5 or 6 weeks to notice any effect and I thought this was a trick by the pharma company in the hope of a spontaneous cure that they could claim as the result of their pill. So I had no expectations.

On the 16th, after two pills, I awoke with no pain. I didn't realise what it was, or rather wasn't, at first, other than knowing that something was different. It took me some time to work it out.

I thought that the pain would return, which it did, but not until the afternoon and then not so noticeable. That was the last time it happened.

I've had the occasional little niggle, but normally because I've twisted or not sat properly.

My constant companion has gone. So it has been a bloody good Christmas for me.

Back to the post: a friend of mine sent me the link and I read the date as 23 Dec, hence the 'about time for the press release' comment. But, as you can imagine, it will take a lot to upset me, at least for a time, so a positive there for everyone.

So, Mr Laura, I hope your holiday period can be as great as mine.

Happy New Year.

Amitriptyline, or something spelt similarly. It is an antidepressant and also used in the treatment of epilepsy.

Still free of pain. I can't believe it.

I too stood to type on occasion, and occasionally kneeling. For a bloke who writes, it was a problem.

I hope it can work for you.

Amitriptyline is very good for pain relief. I was prescribed it recently and the response was very quick. Unfortunately it is not suitable for everybody due to potential side effects. This happened to me and I subsequently stopped taking it after a short period of time. The pain returned rapidly but I'm now on a similar type of pain relief whose primary use is for the treatment of epilepsy!
