Robbin' bds!The prices will never fall until there's a system in place that prevents Ecclestone from shutting the British* GP down and replacing it with one in Nowhere-istan which is bankrolled by Government/Oligarch/Oil (delete as appropriate) if the organisers don't pay his King's Ransom.
People think he'd never give up the British GP, or Italian or other 'key' events but look at what happened to France...
I live about 40 mins drive from Silverstone but I've long since stopped looking at the British GP tickets. Last time I went was 2006.
I refuse to pay 3 figures to stand on a grass hill behind several hundred others or pay the price of a decent holiday for grandstand seats.

If the interview he gave to ITV London yesterday was anything to go by, the timing of his announcement was more to do with Sadiq Khan becoming the new Mayor of London and Bernie seeing if a deal can be made in the future to make him lots more ££££££.
He was saying things like he was looking forward to speaking to the relevant parties to make it happen ASAP and that he was also certain that they could come to a proper financial agreement that would allow it to happen.
Essentially typical Bernie opening his mouth again, getting some publicity and maybe hoping to make some ££££ in the process.

How many times has this been trotted out over the years - it'll never happen, can you imagine shutting the capital down for 4 days? without even thinking of the backlash from the environmentalists, and it would no doubt need some financial assurances from Government, that will go down well with the vast majority if they chucked a load of cash at, what is realistically, a niche sport for rich people, while telling everyone they need to tighten their belts.
Like the New York GP that was on the cards a couple of years ago, or the Las Vegas one Ted mentioned at the Russia GP with the possibility of using the strip. Great ideas and some of them would be fantastic, but the reality is they'd cost more than they would ever make back for the organisers.

I thought you might say that.Silverstone effectively can't - unless they are willing to bankrupt themselves, which I'm sure they aren't. It's CVC that sets the price each venue has to pay to host a GP.
Silverstone should have walked away for a year or two and call Bernies bluff.

Silverstone's not what it was, though still arguably better than some of the new tracks, but there all much of a muchness on TV.It makes a difference if you go to the race of course but over the last ten years I've chosen to go to Spain, Hungary, Belgium and France for a better all round experience, in many ways.
