The sausage kerb has been removed from the T1 escape road. Good decision. But why was it there at all!

Edit: posted at exactly the same time!

Having been cooked at Silverstone last year, I don’t really envy the people already out there on the grass banks this early in the day. I know they need to secure their place for the F1 later but it looks absolutely boiling there already! Even under shade it must be roasting in the crowd.

DRS being switched on seems to have actually hurt the racing here.

Racing is an interesting word, they all go up one because someone falls off,

At this track they need a safety car every ten laps

Any chance this F2 race isn't a snooze fest ?

Got tyre change to deal with, so should be some overtaking, even if tyre-life induced.

Why this crappy track constantly gets a race is beyond me.

With the expected tyre deg anyone think a 3 stop could be the way? Would need a safety car but if you plan for it you could be onto a winner.

I’ve a feeling that someone might try a two-stop. They’ve all being talking about loads of tyre management required. A safety car at the right time, might be the trigger.

No they don't. It amazes me in these days of overbearing H&S they were allowed to be brought back onto the circuits. Only an idiot would use them.
There’s still half a dozen of the fkers at the final chicane.

They’re clearly waiting for the FIA insurance to have to pay out on a life-changing injury, before they finally get banned.

Sausage kerbs gone from the T1 'escape' route, I see.

Why bother putting them in - everyone knows they're st, everyone who has put them in has had to remove them, do these people never learn?

Imagine what it would be like hitting them in an F1 car with the new much stiffer sidewalls

Not going very well at all, according to these tweets - like Silverstone from 20 years ago - Silverstone is soooo much better now;

Started to liven up after the tyre changes. I wonder if the main event will follow suit?

Yes - Drugovich is proving to be in a class of his own - 10th to 1st, with tyres and time to spare.

Lots of overtaking with the differing strategies here, quite the speed differential

And there’s the pass for the lead.

Doesn't sound much better than when I was last there in 2014. I would never even consider going there again. Mickey Mouse circuit, usually a crap race, with appalling facilities and a very bad attitude from circuit management. They do not deserve to host the race and I am very relieved I am not there.

I’ll take a proper circuit every time over the pop-up Miami, Melbourne, Jeddah…

Caldwell's strategy is now falling to pieces - can't keep waiting for a hoped-for SC when you're a second slower than everyone else on shagged tyres.

5 laps ago he could have pitted for Softs and got back into the top ten. Not now. Sad frown.

Yep, stayed out a few laps too long there. He’s half a minute off the points, but with only five laps left.

Basing your race strategy on something that may or may not happen doesn’t seem very professional to me
