Hahaha. Kimi is a more marketable driver than Hamilton? Do Mercedes want to be associated with the 'whole gangsta thing'? Whatever that is... I think not... but Hamilton is the most marketable driver in F1 - and has the highest profile by far. Ferrari would love a piece of that action.
Seriously, they wouldn't.Seb is their dream from a marketing perspective.
Mercedes seem very comfortable with the gangsta thing, after all, that's what the C63 AMG appeals to...
Ferrari are MUCH more protective and selective.

The link you posted describes a poll of F1 fans and those involved in F1... so your point is? I said he's the highest profile driver and the most marketable. Ecclestone has said it - as have many others. So the link your posted refers to what exactly?
It actually refers to him not being anywhere near as popular / marketable as you think he is!Vettel has a lot more appeal to marketing departments - clean living, polite, good sense of humour, doesn't come with baggage, celebrity romances, an entourage of music industry names.
Besides which, whilst Ferrari will flog almost anything with their logo on it - they don't need their F1 drivers to sell their cars. That's a very big difference - you can afford to be a lot more selective in what you want from a driver when you have a long, long waiting list for every car you can make.
Ferrari are a very conservative company. Hamilton is definitely not their thing.

Ok chap. I suppose the cheap tat they peddle the world over, is an example of this selectiveness you speak of
Spot on. Mind you, the Sacglietti bodied SWB 250 GT - now that's beautiful. I saw Moss drive a blue one at Brands in the early 60s (Redex Trophy?) and it made my eyes ache. I've still got the programme. The best looking and best sounding sports car ever, and that's from someone who used to have an MGB.
I do hope the stories of Ferrari being able to challenge the Merc is right. (Yeah, I know it is identical each year, but you never know.)

Having said all of that; Ferrari might be conservative, as you say... perhaps they don't want a celebrity as a driver. We can agree on that.

He always plays down Lewis for some reason... he forgets that Hamilton beat Alonso in his very first season in F1! And that Hamilton has already raced Vettel in equal machinery, in lower formulae. I've heard him play Hamilton down in the past also. As for his opinion; regardless of the above; I'd agree about Alonso - not so much Vettel...Interview with Montoya regarding the Schumacher's and current leading drivers including Lewis.

He won less times that DC yet feels he can put down a triple world champion.
Mika Hakinnen was highly strung at times yet won more titles than JPM...Funny that.
Maybe he means Europeans have more talent...
Almost every interview I've seen with him; he has an edge of bitterness and it's not like he tries to hide it either. Very odd to watch. Lumping all Europeans together is odd also - seeing as we all have entirely different demeanours...Mika Hakinnen was highly strung at times yet won more titles than JPM...Funny that.

Hamiltons right at front of the f1 games (at least in this country he is) he's in call of duty, a small part in the cars 3 film and i'm sure a lot of other things in fashion too, I've not seen vettel in anything.Vettel has a lot more appeal to marketing departments - clean living, polite, good sense of humour, doesn't come with baggage, celebrity romances, an entourage of music industry names.

maybe f1 fans are turned off by Hamilton but outside of the f1 world he's much more famous. Even more important to f1 with americans running the sport
